Batteries were at 13.5 today and I ran some 12V loads and the voltage dropped to 13.1 and I assume would have continued down. I watched it slowly come up to 13.8V and now it is at 13.5V. Not sure what is going on but I have ordered a PD9260 to replace it. I have had one trailer with a single stage converter and one where the converter died and replaced them both with Progressive Dynamics and have had no problems.WFCO 55 amp converter operationI have had issues with bad connections and bad batteries in my motorhome and have them all resolved except knowing how this converter should work. It charges a new set of batteries to about 13.6V with no load. When I put a load (2 fantastic fans and a 12V TV) on the batteries the voltage slowly drops to about 12.65V and seems to stay there. If I shut the converter off it drops even further so it is doing something. When the load is shut off it takes about 20 mins for the voltage to get to 13.4V. I think over a longer period it will get to 13.6V. I have a friend who has a progressive dynamics converter and he says when he puts a load on the batteries the voltage drops from 13.3V to 13.2V and never goes lower. Do I have a bad converter or does this type just act like a trickle charger?Re: Protecting Power Cord from TheftI have a portable surge guard and I was concerned that someone might take it. I bought a steel ring about 2 inches in diameter and 2 feet of chain. I split the ring (hacksaw) and put it around the cord of the surge guard and slipped a link of the chain on the ring also. I then spot welded the ring. I wrap the chain around the pedestal and lock it. I also put a ring around my 50 amp cord and can slip the chain from the surge guard through it before locking all to the pedestal. This stops the casual thief but bolt cutters will still get it in seconds. I did all this when I first started camping but have never lost anything in 20 years so most times I don't even bother to lock things. BrianRe: Pin box 5th Airborne 5th. wheelI hooked up to trailer and filled mine to the "fill to here " line. It needs to be topped up occasionally but most of the time it is hook up and go. Never checked the pressure. BrianRe: Wet Bolt InstallationI put the wet bolts in and found three that would not take grease. I found that the grease zerks were defective so I took one the was working and moved it around to the three and they all took grease. I put the zerk in a vice and put the gun on it and could not get grease to pass through. They must not have been drilled properly or the ball in the end was stuck. BrianRe: Slack in 7-pin CordI use a short bungee cord to take the slack out of the cord which allows the cord to stretch a little when required. BrianRe: Best small electric heatersI've had a Vornado since 2005 and it has been the best heater for keeping our 33' heated. I have owned a few cheaper heaters we have used as a second heater when the weather got close to freezing but none of them worked very well. I finally bought a second Vornado and threw all the cheap ones away. The Vornados circulate the air even when the heat is off and if you set the temp. at 70 degrees it stays within a degree of 70 degrees.Re: Homemade JT Strongarms style stabilizer?I tried a private message and attaching pictures happens the same way and I can't do it. If someone could tell me how to find and enter a URL on a mac that would be great. BrianRe: Homemade JT Strongarms style stabilizer?Well I tried to post pictures and failed. I will try to send them another way. BrianRe: Homemade JT Strongarms style stabilizer?
