All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Dutchmen TTLooked at a holiday rambler which appears to be very well built including aluminum roof, powerful slide out motor, quality cabinets, problem is when I tested the AC bits of insulation blew out 2 overhead vents. The sellers said they ran the ac a week ago and there was no issue. I do believe them but obviously this is a problem. How would a mouse get into an overhead vent duct? Thru air return box? UghhRe: Dutchmen TTi agree there are little things you may just get used to or work around but its frustrating when you discover problems that are more than slight annoyances. structural issues are not something you just get used to, at least i don't.Re: Dutchmen TTYes I passed on it. Along with the one I just looked at. After a 4hr roundtrip drive. I am discouraged with people that say "great condition, no problems" then you see it and you're thinking "dude, are you high"? And after a few questions they play dumb and say "to be honest I don't know much about these. Campers".. ?!?!?!?Dutchmen TTwe are looking for a TT to purchase - price range 8-11k. today I looked at a 26' 2010 Dutchmen Rainer. it looked OK but the slideout was in the sink/counter area and the counter was not level - one side was about 2" higher than the other. is this normal? I also noticed a big dropoff on the bedroom floor along the same wall. floor was really sloped towards the edge of the wall. I looked under and it appeared one of the support flanges was bent and the side of the trailer bowed out a bit. I could not tell if this was due to an accident or if this was just a weak frame design. the seller did not know anything about it. I decided to pass. there is a 2004 31' Dutchmen classic I want to go look at but its over an hour away. am I wasting my time on this brand? are they known for structural issues or other major problems? the 2005 Layton went to see literally had sold 10 minutes prior but it looked amazing with 2 big 3' slides. btw, I am not new I currently own a 1997 lance truck camper and have owned 2 others before this one. I am handy and do basic repairs and will not take it to the "dealer" if some trim piece falls off or comes loose for instance. thanks!Sealing aluminum roofWhat's the best product to seal up around the fixtures on my 97 lance aluminum roof? Eternabond, dicor,??? Existing caulkish product is developing cracks.Re: Airlift 5000 bagsThanks cmeade. So I've seen some remove the overload spring when installing bags. Any advantage/disadvantage of doing this?Airlift 5000 bagsI bought a set of these rear bags to put on my 2002 F350. Anyone install tips they want to share? Thanks!Re: Lance Squire 5000 vern kelly wrote: Looks just like my 98 Lance 5000. Still have mine with everything working. Had trouble with the dometic frig control board after ~4 years. Did not work on gas. Replaced with a Dinosaur board and no further problems. Rebuilt the water pump and the Thetford toilet just recently. Other than that no big problems. Mine still has the Magnetec power supply with no problems so far. It does go down to 1 amp trickle charge when the battery is topped off. I check that once in a while with an ammeter. The Onan generator has been flawless and does charge the battery when in use. The 2500 cannot run the frig on AC and the Air Conditioning at the same time so I leave the Frig forced on gas. Sometimes finicky starting if battery is too low or at high altitude. Front Window is prone to leaking in a driving rain. Fixed this by calking around it on the outside. Considering the prices of "new" campers 5000 American is a steal for the enjoyment you can get out of it! Mine has the options you mentioned plus air conditioning and weighs ~3400 lbs with my stuff in it and half tank of water. The tanks are generous with 33 gallons fresh, 25 grey, and 14 black. hi vern - thanks for the details. i checked and this generator is set to charge the battery as well. i did find it odd they installed the generator in this camper but no A/C unit. no where in the paperwork (I have a stack of it including the original invoice) can i find anything about an A/C unit so my guess is its never had one installed. not too worried about it, here in the pacific NW it can get hot during summer days but if its not raining i don't expect to be in the camper too much anyway except for sleeping. it has a powerful fantastic fan which i might look to upgrade to a new model with thermostat but otherwise no issues. based on the condition i'd say this saw very little use, i don't have history beyond 5 years back but know it was only used 2x per summer since then as the owner also had a 5th wheel. anyway thanks again for the comments.Re: Lance Squire 5000 BradW wrote: Looks just like our 1996 Legend 500. Make sure and take a very close look at the Magnatech 12v converter/charger. They are a pos and almost caught our camper on fire. It got so hot that it turned the linoleum black. It also cooked the water out (and ruined) of 2 or 3 deep cycle batteries. Brad - which converter/charger do you recommend? mine looks to be the original magnatek. Thanks!Re: generator hour meterOk I made the jumper and It works! now the meter is clicking every 3-4 seconds and the switch light is on. That click is pretty loud I wonder if they unplugged it because of that!
