I think I will go that route. Thanks RamWilderness for the site. I'll try that out, and see what it says. Thanks Dutch_12078 and Jbrowland for the encouragement. Maybe it is possible. I'll bring some dvds just in case. Thanks 2oldman and Ed_Gee for the input. We are frequent visitors to the park, and stayed in Upper Pines in Feb. We did have intermittent cell service, which was a surprise. It sometimes worked in our trailer, other times, it worked just walking around the campground. I suspect that a cell signal booster may have done the trick. But, I actually like not having cell service. :-) We did see a couple trailers with satellite dishes out. So, maybe. Only 3 weeks left until our trip. I have some wires left to run (hdmi, coax), and I better order the sat equipment so I have time to try it out.Re: Satellite TV in Yosemite Valley?I agree with korbe, but I am not a big TV watcher. My wife loves to channel surf, so if it makes her happy, I'll install it. As greenrvgreen said, after a long day of hiking, it's nice to watch a movie at night. And, yes, 2oldman, I did not find anything about Yosemite Valley. I've been collecting info for a few months, and did not find anything here, or in other forums. I am hoping someone has some experience with this. Thanks for the replies!Satellite TV in Yosemite Valley?Hi, We are staying in Lower Pines campground in Yosemite in August. My wife wants me to install a satellite tv before we go. I have searched for this without luck. Can the satellite tv work in the valley? Or do the trees/mountains block it? I have narrowed it down to DISH pay as you go, with a wally receiver and King tailgater. Anyone have any experience with this?Re: booking yosemite in the summerFinallyTime, That is a great technique. I didn't think of that. When my first booking failed, I got confused as to how to search for another site. I lost precious seconds on that one. With your method, it would avoid it. Thanks! btw: I could only find 5 sites that my trailer would fit in. I know some have said a longer trailer can fit in the 24ft sites, but being a newbie, I didn't want to try it. This was a spur of the moment decision, and I only had a little bit of time to research. I might try again for the August 15th opening.Re: booking yosemite in the summerAgesilaus, I didn't think about clicking before 7am. That is where I went wrong! Thanks for the tip!Re: booking yosemite in the summer4x4Dodger, Thanks for relating. I didn't know it was that bad even in April! I agree that even staying outside the park, it is worth it. Last year we stayed at Dimond-O, and that was great. We hiked Hetch-Hetchy, and enjoyed just being in the campground.booking yosemite in the summerThis morning at 7am the booking window for July opened up. I did my research the night before, had all my information, and at 7am clicked book. I didn't get it. By the time I searched for the next site, only single days were left. By 7:11, there were no days left in the valley. So, is there a trick to getting a site in yosemite in the summer? Like try to go for just a few days, start on a tue, or things like that? I knew the odds of getting a site were slim. We will likely go in the off-season. But my youngest is still in school, so it's difficult to do that. I searched on this topic, but didn't find any tips, except to research the sites your trailer fits in (mine is 29ft from back to hitch ball). I know we can stay outside the park (which we have done), but we really wanted to try the valley experience.Re: Pictures of last trip 2014, Olympic Pennisula.Great post! Thanks for sharing your adventure.Re: Does your level change as slide goes out??Interesting topic. I have one very long slide, and am always surprised that it does not affect how level the trailer is, whether I use the stabilizers or not. I always level the trailer before putting out the slide. But, I rarely have to level it side to side, just front to rear. I don't always put down the stabilizers (I have four scissor style). The stabilizers seem to help reduce the 'jiggle' of the trailer, but not by much. And they don't seem to affect the level of it. My springs are pretty stiff. That may be why. I have two 4300 Lb axles.Re: Any advice on a good TT for my 2012 Expedition?I have a 1998 Expedition with the same specs as yours, except much older. It has an 8000 lb tow rating. I have a 2001 Excursion with the 7.3 diesel, with an 11000 lb tow rating. My TT comes in at about 8000 lbs (dry weight is just over 6000 lbs). I have not towed the TT with the Expedition, but I know the Excursion definitely feels the load, especially when going into the mountains. I would be fine towing with either one on flat land. But, if going into the mountains, I would think the Expedition would really struggle going up hill. It would not be an enjoyable trip. I hope that helps.
