Prices were way inflated with shipping costs used as an excuse. I understand the need to pay for shipping, but not at 2X or 3X the actual shipping costs to the dealer. Admittedly, I did not look at the Oregon built trailers. I cant recall why but I think it was a combination of price and lack of the exact layout I wanted. Bottom line is that I ended up buying from Holman in Cincinatti, Ohio area. I contracted with my own shipper and took care of everything via phone and e-mail. Yes, there was some hand-wringing about buying sight-unseen but everything turned out great. I would recommend looking into it as an option. If for nothing else than a well-informed bargaining chip with the local dealers. Feel free to PM me if you would like more or specific info on my experience, shipper used, etc. DeanRe: melting step carpet Dennis Henderson wrote: Did you have your foot on the step while you were spraying insect repellent or sunscreen on yourself? Denny and Cindy Henderson fulltiming, currently at Jellystone Park in Natural Bridge Station, VA THIS. If you happen to use insect repellant with DEET, this could very well happen... Although you would have to get quite a bit on there, it seems, to cause that much damage.Re: Today we signed on a new TTCongrats to you and your family, Ragtop. You guys will a blast!! Enjoy camping this summer... And take lots of pictures and video. DeanRe: If you can't camp at a ground...camp in the drivewayWe (my 12 y.o. Daughter and I) just did this last night as well. Not really camping so much, but we did both sleep out there. She just came back from an overnight at Girl Scout camp so I was surprised that she didn't want to just enjoy the comfort of her own bed in the house... But she was really wanting to sleep in the trailer. I just got a new foam topper for the queen bed so I wanted to try it out too. Good nights sleep... Didn't turn the heat on so a little cool in the trailer which always helps me sleep better. The foam topper was just the ticket, too. Prepping for the first real camping in a couple of weeks.Re: How best to fix this?I agree with the posts above, but I would also suggest you do a search for some of the threads about caulking the shower enclosure. I only say this because I always err on the side of caulking the living daylights out of stuff but there is some good advice out there about what to caulk and what not to. Some of it seems counterintuitive until you pause and give some thought. Not saying this is or isn't a place that should be well-caulked, just saying do a little research first to make sure you aren't inadvertently creating a future problem. Good luck.Re: Scratching my head on this oneThe real sad thing is that he has told that to countless others and will tell it to countless more that have not done enough research to be skeptical. At least you knew that it didn't sound right and moved on. Many will just take the salesman's advice and then maybe be here after the fact when its too late to do much about it... short of buying a different TV. If there is one thing I've learned here its that tongue weight often matters much more than overall dry weight or even loaded weight to some extent because of the impact it has on overall payload and the payload limitations on many popular tow vehicles like 1/2 ton pickups. As much heat as folks get on this and some other sites for being the "weight police", I am glad they at least provide cautionary information to get people thinking. DeanRe: Whole trailer LED retrofit DatacomGuy wrote: I totally spaced, thank you for the kind reminder. Going to order a ton tonight, the price is perfect and your review helps me feel safer.. While they were inexpensive, easy to install, power-miserly and reasonably bright, I can't provide much of a review yet. I have a reasonable level of confidence that they will be just right, especially after some of the replies to this thread from people that have had similar lamps installed for some time. However, just wanted you to know that I have not tested them extensively yet. Would be interested in hearing your experience after you receive and install them. Either in this thread or via a thread of your own. There is more an more info coming out on LED replacements in RVs and reading specifics is really helpful. It's really difficult to know exactly what you're dealing with when getting some of these products directly from China. You just never know if they are exactly the same lamps, produced in the same factory, being sold by or under various Ebay sellers' names. You also are taking a bit of a gamble on the QA/QC, but my guess is that it's minimal. Good news is you don't pay much up front for the lamps and can afford to keep a number of spares on hand. Good luck. DeanRe: Whole trailer LED retrofitThe LEDs I listed on page 1 are 921 replacements, I believe.Re: Whole trailer LED retrofitThanks forthe info on the regulated vs. non-regulated. I hadn't really read much on that and it's totally different than what I expected. I will have to test the TV when I in an area that is supposed to get OTA channels. I think my LEDs are non regulated so it probably won't be an issue. In addition to the extra paddle type and a couple extra pillar type LED lamps, I am keeping all of the old incandescent lamps in a bag in one of the drawers in my trailer. Assuming the LEDs work well no last anywhere near as long as is advertised, those extra lamps will probably not see much use. Thanks for all the good and interesting info. DeanRe: Whole trailer LED retrofit Lynnmor wrote: It has been discussed before, but I'll remind the folks reading this thread about the RFI from regulated LED's. This past weekend was a good example of what can happen. I found 7 TV stations using my antenna. If I turned on just one LED lamp, I was down to two. If OTA TV is important to you, then the non-regulated LED's might be best for you. Thank you for this reminder... I had read about this but forgot. I did not test this yet. I will have to check on the regulated vs. Non-regulated status of my LEDs. Considering the source, I am going to bet that they are non-regulated. Assume you take the good with the bad when using non-regulated in terms of standards for brightness, color temp.,etc....?
