He is referring to the initial setting up of the unit, the very first time to be installed. Not the procedure to level the trailer at a camp site.Re: Level Mate ProThe direction say to level the coach with the slideouts out. Then bring them in and set the unit up. I messed mine up by not reading the directions and only leveled the trailer with the slides in, when I extended them I was off by an inch and a half. It was a very obvious I was off level.Re: Inyo National ForestLWiddis, I'm a HS teacher in California, there is no way we are starting school early. If anything it might be later than normal, but this is all speculation as I have not been told anything from my district. Strange times for sure!!!!Re: Inyo National ForestIf they don't start getting them open very soon, the mad dash from Socal will be insane when they do open. I am afraid that the rush will make it very hard to find sites. We typically don't use the reservation campsites, we like the more rural uncrowded places.Re: Front glass window protectionI'm a little surprised at some of the negative responses to this thread. Have these people never seen a front window on a car/truck get cracked? These front windows are custom made just for Forest River, they are expensive to replace and what will we we do if it breaks after a redesign of the trailer. I have read more than a few stories of these windows needing to be replaced. I for one am going to try and find someone to build me a protective cover that can be taken on/off. Love having a front window, but this issue does scare me.Re: Front glass window protectionOn the FROG (Forest River Owners Group) facebook site there have been a few instances of windows being cracked from a variety of reasons. It is a concern for me as I'm planning a trip to Alaska and if one can be cracked that is the place. I also worry that if I keep the trailer through the next redesign and need to replace the window the current window may not be manufactured anymore. FYI - Forest River completely changed the front cap design after 2016, so it will happen eventually. I am going to find someone that can make me a protective cover. There is a company called Clearview Products that makes a clear protective film that they say will protect the window. They make it specifically for the Rockwood windows. I'm skeptical, but it might help.Suburban Hot Water Heater Issue. So my Suburban hot water heater has malfunctioned after 7 years of faithful service. It will ignite, but the flame is completely yellow and is producing lots of soot. There is no blue flame like it usually has. I have taken the tube off that comes from the regulator/control thing and checked for the spider web obstruction that many have had and it is clean. It acts as if there is not enough gas pressure to burn correctly. My furnace and stove are working fine so I don’t think it is the main LPG regulator. I am very handy and do almost all my RV repairs. Any thoughts on what might be the main culprit. I should be able to fix this myself, but the DW is concerned because it is propane related. They don't seem very complicated.Re: Seattle RV Park RecsLast Summer we stayed at Saltwater State Park. There are no hookups, but it is very close to the water and they do have bathrooms. It was a easy short drive to the light rail that took us in to Seattle. Not you typical KOA campground. Great sunsets over the water from there.Re: What are your yearly registration costs for your truck?Just paid it yesterday, California 2016 F250 $660.00. No smog test for the first 5 years and no personal property tax.Re: Vancouver to Whitehorse via Vancouver Island? Can't help on anything except the Vancouver Island part of your trip. Although we are in the early stage of planning a trip to Alaska via the Alcan Hwy. We spent three weeks this past Summer on the Island and feel in love with the place. I second the suggestion to take the Wash State ferry from Anacortes to Sidney. It was one of the highlights of our trip as the ferry passes through the San Juan Islands, quite close at times, simply a gorgeous trip. We measured right at 50' and the price was $241.00, well worth the scenery going over. The drive up the island is not fast but easy with some great views.
