All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Stabilization BarI have been towing my Lance 1575 with the E2 and my V8 4Runner. It tows well and except for an occasional pop or clank, it is relatively quiet. The Lance coupler is another story but I have no sway or rear-end sag on the 4Runner. I'm very happy with it so far. I'm just wondering if I should pick up a couple of extra pins- the L-shaped silver thingies that keep the bars in.Re: Newbie questions- battery charger, battery, etc. Thanks guys! I'll print out that diagram. I am not sure of the stock converter since the trailer is back in the shop. I assume that is what you're referring to, westend...what is on the trailer. In the winter, I will likely take the battery off and keep it charged/maintained in the garage or something, as long as it isn't in the house. SoundGuy- I was referring to specific types of trickle chargers or higher-amp chargers for winter maintenance or simply to bring batteries up to full charge (let's say overnight) while not on the trailer. I was reading that some people could not get batteries fully charged by trickle chargers when the battery was too drained. They had to use higher-amp chargers that were faster as well. So I was not sure if I needed one lower-amp (.75-1.0) and one higher-amp (3-10?) charger.Newbie questions- battery charger, battery, etc.Hi guys, I just picked up a Lance 1575 and since it is my first trailer, I was looking to get a few things done. An important thing is to keep my battery charged up. I have a group 27 Interstate battery 12v now and may replace it with a group 31 Trojan or maybe two group 27s. However, I do not know if I need one trickle battery charger or a bigger one. I don't know how long they will take to charge or if a trickle charger and if I need two chargers. Do you guys have any recommendations? I have a million questions and this is one I could not find in the FAQs or anything. I have tons of questions but will continue to read the FAQs and also camp a couple of times before I post too many. Thanks in advance!Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarOoh...fishing too? Man, that sounds ridiculously nice.Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarThanks haapycamper002! Your offer is appreciated. Do you run a remote RV park or own some land? I'll certainly drop you a line in advance.Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarThanks TomG2! I can hardly wait. Boon Docker- thanks for the info. I really like those boxes. The Lance 1575 doesn't have too much room in front but I have bookmarked that site. I'll get some specific measurements and see if I have room. The lower front of the camper sticks out and the tongue is pretty small. Your way would be idea thoughl...I may be able to do that without having to relocate the battery area backwards. Just need to see how tall those boxes are.Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarOh yes, I should have clarified. :D That is correct...one G27 and one propane.Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarOh, I decide to do nothing yet because the dealer wanted $355 to put some new angle iron and relocate the batteries to 2x 24 group (included credit for the 27 group battery that they would take back). I plan on adding an extra battery for sure. I'll remove this angle iron, move it forward a bit, and see if I can get two batteries in there myself. Since the frontal frame area is very narrow and cannot be welded on (per Lance) that is my only options. What I will look for first is a sturdy box that can be set on the angle iron and fit two batteries. If I cannot find a sturdy box, I'll see if I can find a long plastic box or make two smaller plastic boxes fit. I have not done anything like this before so I need to research it well and measure everything out.Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarI certainly got some good information out of it though. I did get the camper...just need to learn how to back up properly. .Re: Camping off-grid & batteries/propane/solarI can lift them okay, I am sure. I carry two of the 5-gallon water things we have with no problem. I just don't feel like carrying two from 100 yards away, necessarily. I'll have to take a nap after that. :)
