Using the jacks afterward makes perfect logic. Thanks again for the clarification.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLThanks for all the good info, I'll put it to use this weekend. Since I've not heard further from RockyRoadCamper, I'm wondering if you might have any insight about loading and unloading with the slides in or out ?Re: Okanagan 117 DBLThanks for the access info, we plan on taking a look at the total rig this Sat. I'll be making a point of looking at both motors to make sure no cracking is evident. If all looks ok and if the total package turns out to be what we're looking and end up buying it, I'll be sure and devise some sort of brace to try and keep what happened to you from happening to us. You said the replacements weren't an easy find, do you recall the make of the slide and where I might find the parts if I were to need them ? Thanks again.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLGood Morning, my thanks to the three of you that have responded to request for help and insights. Bill your suggestion about bringing along a tech could be very worthwhile and interestingly enough my wife Roby is the Controller for one of if not the largest RV dealers in the western U.S (DeMartini RV) located in Grass Valley, CA. I'll ask and see who might be best to bring. Specularius thanks for the photos of the slide motor, that's certainly not something I would have expected. Never having any rig with a slide, are the motors on the OK located in such a fashion that they can be seen with the slide out ? Or are they more back inside the camper structure, and all you see when looking under the slide out is the runner but not the motor. If that's the case then how do you get to them for a visual ? RockyRoadCamper, my thanks for the slide lesson, but again since I've never had a slide camper, how difficult is it to load and unload with the slides out ? It would seem like the camper would way off balance especially to the slide side. My wife is a worrywart the way it is with loading and unloading our old 1987 hard side Lance (we don't have electric jacks). For me it's a piece of cake by myself, but I almost need her to take walk. I've been around campers since I was a little kid when my dad bought a new 62 3/4 Chevy and an 8 ft. Turnpike cabover. That was the hardest to load and unload. It had portable tripods with cranks, one on each side and it sort of tipped this way and that. Thanks to all for your help. Dave.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLThe truck is a 2006 GMC crewcab dually 4x4. It has the diesel with the Allison tranny and 40K miles. It's a tricked out setup called the Regency package. This is after market package approved by GM, I think it was only available for 2 years. It's got custom fiberglass running boards, a custom wood and leather interior with individual TV screens built into the back of both front seats (we'd never use these unless there was something special our Airedale wanted to watch) and an after market 50+ gallon fuel tank, special wheels and I think it has a class V hitch, not sure what else.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLEvening Bill, sorry I didn't respond earlier, but we had company that stayed most the day. The only thing I know is that the seller said he added Firestone air bags and that it helps because of the tilt to the left because of the slide. On our current rig, a 1994 GMC crewcab dually 4x4 (with just 72K miles) I've added the sway bar, Stable Loads, Rancho 9000's and the air bags. These have all helped, but they just don't add the additional interior space for moving around in our Lance LC900 that my wife would like. I'm not too sure about how good this combo is since the seller wants $25,500 for the OK and $62K with the 2006 GMC as a total package. The trucks only got 40K miles, but it still seems heavy for the combo. At our age I'm not sure that we'll get as much enjoyment out of it as we have over the years with our current rig. Got an opinion on the combo price, or just the camper for that matter ? Any thoughts are helpful. Dave.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLThanks for the sage advice Bill. Sounds like just being attentive to the normal things and make sure I have a flashlight for the harder to get to places. I've run with a dually since 1991 but according to my manufacture spec's the 117 would far exceed the posted load rate, it's the reason I'm considering the total package. I'm also a bit concerned about balancing the load. Not having any experience with carrying a camper with a slide, it seems like it could ride a bit lop sided. The camper is loaded on the truck now so I guess we'll see how it all preforms when we take it out this next weekend. I'll take a number of photos while we're checking it out and be happy to post pic's after if anyone's interested. Happy trails, Dave.Re: Okanagan 117 DBLHowdy all, I've just joined and I've done so because it looks like all of you can help me with making a decision about buying a newer camper. I've been a round campers for a long time, currently have a 1987 Lance LC900 which has been great ( we've had it since 1996 ). My wife feels it's time for a little more room to move about and we're looking at a 2007 Okanagan 117. Since a number of you have one I'm wondering if you can shed a little light on how you like it, problems to look for and most importantly what kind of rig you used to carry it. It's quite a bit heavier than my LC900 and the folks selling it are interested in selling it as a package with their 2006 GMC K3500 Regency. I'd like to know what to expect and any help or insight would be most welcome. Thanks to all that reply. Dave.
