Then you need to disconnect the battery and put your ammeter in series. After that is all done, you need to walk away for an hour so everything times out, keeping in mind that if you open a door or a connection, you’re going to wake everything up again and your reading will no longer be accurate.Re: Loss of Power after New Fan ClutchI also think that they may have replaced your standard duty clutch with a heavy duty or “trailer tow” fan clutch. It may end up being a better choice overall, but if you really can’t stand it, get an OEM one to replace it with. The dealer should be able to find out the part number of the one the truck was originally equipped with.Re: Wiper bladesI was told years ago by the rep for a wiper manufacturer, that wiper blades were only designed to last for six months. I don’t tend to replace mine nearly that frequently, but I’ve still never found a brand of wiper that really impresses me.Re: Wiper blades Grit dog wrote: But still wondering what makes a particular model windshield “bad” for wipers ? Some windshields have an angle or curve that is sharp enough that part of the blade will not be able to conform to it, so you’ll have a spot on the glass that the wiper passes over, but will never press firmly enough to it to clean it well.Re: Plug or unplug that is the questionThe charge wire from my truck is always hot, so yes, I unplug. If that circuit drew power through a relay, as many newer trucks do, I’d probably leave it plugged in. I’m not worried about forgetting to plug it back in before driving away, as I’ve made it part of the routine to put the flashers on and do a quick check of the rear of the trailer to check or light, each morning before driving away.Re: What;s Wrong With My RAM Truck????It isn’t clear in the original post whether the blower motor actually quits running, or if it continues to run but the airflow diminishes. Determining this is a key part of diagnosing this.Re: Battery Tenders mkirsch wrote: "Have truck checked..." For what, exactly? Any good mechanic will tell you that minor electrical gremlins are extremely tough to track down, and to pay them to do it may well cost more than the vehicle is worth. It's a routine matter for a technician to go over the charging system. Test the alternator output, load test AND cell test the batteries, and measure the ignition-off draw. If the draw is over 50mA after everything has timed out, then it's time for the OP to decide if he wants to hunt it down, which often isn't as horrifying as people make it out to be, as long as the tech is knowledgeable.Re: Fifth wheel towing with an older truckIf the fuel pump is still original, I would consider replacing it before it leaves you on the side of the road. I believe it to be the most common failure on highway trips, and I would rather deal with it on my own schedule, before a tow truck is required.Re: Tow vehicle tire trauma..... Greene728 wrote: I am confused. I mean zero disrespect when I ask this. But why in the world would you go back with the same brand that only lasted 4 years, exhibited significant sidewall cracking, and caused you a massive and complete sidewall blow out? This is a known issue (sidewall dry rot) with Michelins. I myself would have given another reputable manufacturer a try had this same event happened to me. Cooper, Toyo, etc. all have just as good (and in many cases better) a rating and generally cheaper price tag. Again, just curious as to why? I have to speak up as a lifelong Michelin fan here. Working in the auto industry for decades, I observed many quality traits of Michelin tires. They took far less weight to balance than any other brand of tire. Once balanced, they were pretty much balanced for life. (Try that with a Goodyear). They never ever separated or caused a pull or perceived alignment problem. It's pretty obvious that their quality has slipped but they do still exhibit some of the good qualities that many tire manufacturers have not been able to master. I sure wouldn't write them off just yet.Re: 94 chevy dully???It might be a nice one to buy and then throw a Cummins in when you get tired of going slow up hills. Or when the 350 blows up.
