I've bought a lot of stuff from them and have always been pleased with the stuff and the service. That said, I think I'd look for tires locally. I kinda like Maxxis. Got mine at Discount Tire. They had to order them but it took only a couple days to get them in. Usual disclaimer...no affiliation with etrailer or Discount Tire except as a satisfied customer.Re: 5ers and tailgatesI got one for my truck. It makes it easier to hitch, esp. when hitching at an angle where the tailgate might hit the trailer. It's a lot lighter so it's easier to open & close. If I do hit it and damage it, it's a helluva lot cheaper to replace than the truck tailgate. It doesn't seem to make any difference in fuel mileage. I'm happy with it. YMMV...Re: Gas VS Diesel F250 wing_zealot wrote: ... Now I expect to hear about how you passed 12 gassers sitting beside the road in the mountains. More rhetoric, when facts are scarce. Been there, done that, too. ;)Re: Gas VS Diesel F250Anyone tow with a gasser in the mountains in the West? The hills back east really pale compared to a lot of the stuff out here. A gasser trying to haul up a 7% grade at 8000 or 9000 ft altitude is really straining. Quite a different environment. I've passed lots of gassers laboring up mountain grades at 25mph screaming at near red line.Re: Gas VS Diesel F250I have about the same trailer weight as the OP and tow it with an 08 F250 diesel. No problems. I won't say that you don't know the trailer is there but it works just fine. I get about 10 mpg towing and can see 15-16 empty on the interstate. The newer Fords have more power and might be a bit better on fuel mileage. Diesels are great for towing but they are more expensive all they way around...buying, operating, and maintaining. If you're gonna go with a diesel. I agree to go for a 350 since you'll probably want to move up to a heavier trailer eventually and the price difference isn't that much.Re: RV Park in Flagstaff AZ areaWe've stayed at J&H several times and never had any problems. I think it's the nicest place there. The KOA is really cramped. We've also stayed at Kit Carson but about all it has going for it is the location, it's just short of being a real dump. However, some friends of ours stayed at Woody Mountain last summer for a while but moved to Kit Carson after a week or so. I don't think there are any really nice parks in the Flagstaff area. There's lots of demand from folks in Phoenix trying to escape the summer heat so they can fill up just about any park...doesn't have to be very nice. There's a nice national forest campground north of town at Sunset Crater but no hookups and only a few spots for an RV. A really nice RV park there might be a good business opportunity for someone...Re: Maxiis tire pressureI have them on my fiver that weighs about the same as yours. I run 60 psi in them. They have around 15000 miles on them so far and are holding up just fine. Be sure your rims will handle the pressure, tho. If you just put larger tires on the standard rims, they might not be rated for 60 psi.Re: Water in Diesel Fuel from Flying J Pilot Knoxville, Tn Airstreamer67 wrote: It is examples like this that have caused me to test every drop of fuel that goes into my diesel tow vehicle. I do this by having a glass jar that holds a gallon of fuel in the rear of my pickup's bed. Before I begin fueling, I pump about a half-gallon of diesel into that jar. I then observe the diesel for a few seconds. ... Sounds like a good idea. Just curious...how often have you found water in fuel? I drain the water filter on my F250 pretty religiously but I've never found a drop of water it.Re: Water in Diesel Fuel from Flying J Pilot Knoxville, Tn$2500 is certainly nothing to sneeze at but If that had been a newer truck (2008 or newer) it probably woulda cost a lot more. It probably would have trashed the entire fuel system to the tune of about $10K, The newer systems are much more sensitive to water in the fuel. I hope you can get some compensation for it.Re: Uneven voltages on 50 AmpI had this problem at my house a few years ago. I called the power company and they had someone out within the hour. It's a serious problem. They ran a temporary neutral from the transformer to my breaker box. Then about a week later they came & ran new cables from the transformer to my breaker box. Don't mess with it...call the power company.
