If you stay at Travelers World there is a bus stop right outside their entrance. The San Antonio KOA is also close to downtown and has availability to bus, uber and lyft.Re: Things to see in San Antonio besides the riverwalkAll the above are great. I would also suggest a free presentation called THE SAGA. It is shown on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 9pm, 9:30pm and 10pm. Played on the facade of the San Fernando Cathedral in downtown San Antonio, this laser music video presentation chronicles the history, culture and uniqueness of the city dating back to it's native inhabitants up to present day. You'll marvel at the music and brilliant art on the already beautiful face of the Cathedral. Tuesdays are my favorite night to go because the Downtown Tuesday program offers free parking from 5pm onward. You can park at the lot above El Mercado, the location of Mi Tierras mentioned by several others and after a meal, walk a few minutes over to the cathedral. San Fernando is right above a riverwalk entrance so you can also add the riverwalk to your visit.Re: Places to Stay near San Antonio, TXTravelers World is definitely the CLOSEST to downtown and we enjoyed it's convenience. But we prefer spots a little outside the city and found Hidden Valley RV Park last year, on the SW corner of San Antonio to have a quiet country atmosphere and very hospitable staff. Didn't use it but they have a private creek for fishing. Also has new and spacious bath houses and modern laundry. Several seasonal people there but a separate area for shorter term like ourselves. Liked both sections of the park though. They invited us to a weekly campfire and the RVers and staff were all there. It was a friendly spot and felt days from a city but only 15 minutes from downtown San Antonio, the Alamo and Riverwalk.Re: Rv parks Amarillo, Carlsbad , San AntonioNice little quiet country park on south west side of San Antonio, Hidden Valley RV Park. Easy on and off the Interstate 35 or loop 410. Only 15 minutes to downtown but feels miles away. They have nice pull thrus on the private creek but we prefer the "top of the valley" sites that back up to the trees.Re: San Antonio then to coastGarner State Park is less than 2 hours from SA. It's on the Frio River near Concan TX. The RV sites are not right on the river but some are closer than others. Those always reserve first. Beautiful park and a favorite among Texans. There's also a family owned park on the San Antonio south west edge called Hidden Valley RV (Von Ormy). Nice country atmosphere but only 20 minutes to Riverwalk. Enjoy your stay in San Antonio.Re: San Antonio campgroundsMarch is my favorite month in San Antonio. It starts with the trees budding and in a week or so they are almost completely green. Wildflowers begin to show up in late March and although there may be some rain, it's not a high rain month. Danger of nighttime freezing has passed and daytime temps are generally mild, around 70. For a park inside San Antonio proper I suggest Travelers World but my preference is something on the outer edges. Hidden Valley is 15 minutes from downtown but in a small town on the edge of SA...Von Ormy. Private fishing creek, country atmosphere and decent wifi. Attentive customer service and lots of help finding your way around the downtown area and finding parking and unusual places to visit. Really enjoyed their suggestion of the Toyota Factory Tour only a few miles from the park. They have a gravel entrance road but not a problem for us.Re: San Antonio TX over night stop??Try Hidden Valley RV Park on the SW corner of town. Quiet country place but only a few minutes from town and all the major highways. Hidden Valley RV Park 210-623-6737Re: San AntonioWhile Travelers world gets the vote for being the closest to downtown San Antonio, if you are like us and prefer a more country atmosphere, Hidden Valley RV in SW San Antonio (Von Ormy?) is only 15 minutes or so from downtown attractions but was very friendly and had trees, a private creek and the sites felt roomy.Re: Need a guide for San Antonio TXThere's a great little park on the edge of San Antonio called Hidden Valley RV Park. You would need a rental car though because buses do not go to their location. We stayed there and took a tour where the guides came out ad picked us up at the campground. It was an 8 hours tour and included the Alamo and a cruise on the Riverwalk. Real nice.Re: Need a guide for San Antonio TX LowRyter wrote: great town, I used to live there. Pretty hot this time of year. You might see if the River Walk has been cleared of any flood damage from a few weeks ago. I think the bus is your only choice if you don't rent a car. You might also enjoy camping in the Hill Country, Canyon Lake or the Island across from Corpus too if you have time. FYI: The reports of Riverwalk flooding were erroneous...media photos were of the area of the RW where flood waters are diverted to on purpose to alleviate flooding.
