Buying an older gas MH with no slides only to find out it needed $8,000 worth of work to be road ready and had no room to even dress in and no power to make it up I-75 in Tn. Selling it for a $6,000 loss. Then, buying a 5th wheel thinking you could double tow to haul your Harley and finding out you can't double tow. Selling it for a $3,000 loss. Then, having to buy a toy hauler with 3 slides to finally get what you should have bought in the first place. Lesson learned.....Re: Miles per day/hours on the road phillyg wrote: I think it all comes down to your ability to drive long hours. I know I can't drive as long as I did when in my 20s. I get really get tired after 350 miles and six hours seems to be my max before I start to get sloppy. 2X. When I was younger I drove semi and would do 700 miles a day but it took around 15 hrs. Now days putting on 350 miles is a real chore and after 6 hours of driving I find myself not as alert and my back hurts. Safety should be you main concern with the family and there is a lot to see between your home and Yellowstone that would make the trip even better and safer if you made a few stops.Re: Toy Hauler? For extra room, but no toys to haul?Go for it. Just make sure the garage has air/heat and a door that closes.Re: Some places in Central Flordia for Snowbird to stay?Winter Garden RV park on rt 50. Nice park close to everything and last year they had a $399 per month + elec.Re: Campground in or around New Orleans Donna and Rob wrote: Well, DW and I thought Ponchartrain Landing was kinda high priced so we tried a place over on Chef Menteur Hwy because it was cheaper, (wrong) thought it was a little different when we pulled in and had to wait for a Lady of the night to walk by on the sidewalk. Pulled in to the front of the office and sat there looking around. Three trailers sitting in the park with about 100 spaces, and we sat there....nobody came out and we didn't go in so I ask DW, "Didn't we say we were going to Ponchartrain Landing"? and she said yeah. We are at Ponchartrain Landing and oh what a nice park. Donna and I recommend it. Rob Good choice. Now go to the CG bar and have a drink or 2. Have fun!Re: Campground in or around New OrleansI think the OP's question was: "My question is I'd like to ask you wonderful ladies and gentlemen, where is the best place to dock our boat?" The French Quarter would be tough to use it..... Ponchartrain Landing is a nice park and they may have a boat dock.Re: Generac Failure AgainThanks for giving me another thing to worry about....Re: Steer Safe vs. Safe T Steer vs. etc.... chili's trip wrote: Billieg2 wrote: Just to add mud to the pot: Steer Safe = Old technology (put one on and it exploded on the first trip) Safety Steer = new Technology. ( Will work when it should) Exploded!? Old vs New!? Nonsense! I had Steer-Safe installed by the company in Quartzsite on a Class C and my current Class A. Total of 6 years experience. Both showed a substantial improvement in handling and control such as going off the edge of the road. Good Luck! Jack H "Nonsense!" Tell that to my wife. We had the Steer Safe installed at a truck repair center where they put on a lot of them on rigs. On our first trip in PA went over a bridge and BOTH sides lost the springs and the bar on the drivers side dug into the brake plate stopping me from turning left. We were lucky to get off the road. When we got home I called the truck center and told them what had happened. They said "it's happened before, we can order you new springs and a bracket for XX$$$." Steer Safe doesn't warranty their product. IMHO they are worthless and unsafe. Old Technology....Re: Steer Safe vs. Safe T Steer vs. etc....Just to add mud to the pot: Steer Safe = Old technology (put one on and it exploded on the first trip) Safety Steer = new Technology.
