All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: And Another Battery QuestionHaving used GC2 batteries for many years, both myself and my son have seen voltages similar to yours. They seem to charge up fully, and when in use drop down in voltage to around 12.6 or so. Not much below fully charged. The biggest plus for them is that they hold the charge and last longer than most 12V batts for some reason. The real number is what your voltage is in the morning, esp if using furnace in cooler weather. Our 4-1/2 yr old 6Vs will be at 12.2 or so in the morning and recover very quickly when the sun starts shining. Sons act similar. Personally (with no actual proof!!) feel that this is a normal pattern for a true deep cycle 6V pair!! Also, hydrometer almost always shows above 1275 when recharged!!! Never have checked in the morning, no problem, no fault!!!Re: Water pump questionA 2 way valve and 2-3 ft hose can be added directly to the filter inlet side. Not sure what components the kits have, but should have all or almost all. Hose length is what you need to reach the A/F jug!! If you can't push the pex tube back far enough to add the valve, cut and use sharkbite fittings as necc.Re: Hwy 93 from Missoula to Salmon, ID.There is a good sized forest fire near the MT/ID border, east of the MT43 junction. Pretty sure it doesn't affect 93 (other than possible smoke), but just some more info for this time of year trip.Re: Opinions on 2014-2018 Travel TrailersPrevious trailers were a Pioneer ('04), Jayco ('10). Now own a '16 Outdoors. Quality wise, I would rate them ORV, Pioneer, and Jayco 3rd. It didn't have any major problems, was just mediocre construction and finish. What I have seen with ORV in the last few years is a lowering of quality, based on reviews and complaints from new owners. Seems to me it started about the '19 or early '20 models. Maybe minimal impact stuff, the main construction is the same, but quality control and finishing has suffered. If we were looking for a newer trailer, I would probably look at other brands, and really check them out. If I was looking for my first trailer, I would look for a good used one 4-6 yrs old. Any minor stuff would be taken care of (or should have), and you would see major stuff starting to show. A well taken care of and maintained one that age will show!!!Re: MinneapolisPersonally I would go the north route, but then I haven't been there in a few years. South puts you into the airport area, but further east of it and into a network of freeways!!! Then you need to go back up the west side to whichever highway you are heading out on.Re: corner separatingIf you're not aware, there are screws under the rubber strip on the front of the mouldings. They have probably "pulled" (go into the edge of body side panels) possibly from heat expansion. Only a thought on my part, but this year has been good and hot in most of the country and your travels had to be in hot areas sometime this past year. As to fix, I'd pull the vinyl strips out and check the attaching screws. If they won't tighten and pull the mouldings back to proper position, maybe longer ones and some epoxy in the holes might do it.Re: Is there a quiet water pump? The pump is not very noisy as made, but (as mentioned by others) the installation and the hard lines inside an RV amplify the minor pump sound!! Example: I am using one (same model as inside our trailer) to pump from a 200 gal tank to the trailer up on our property in NE WA. It is "plumbed" with 3/4" hose from tank and then to trailer. You can stand right next to it and all you hear is a hum from pump!! The trailer pump and lines have been modified and insulated from contact with cabinets and floor, and it is still not near as quiet as the outside pump!!! Better than when delivered, but the basic "rattle" is still there, but reduced to a more acceptable level!!!Re: Man, they don't make 'em like they used toKnow what you are saying!! We had a 2004 19T4 for many years, and even though it was considered a low priced entry level trailer, it was well built. AND, had many features (we found out later on a 2010 Jayco!!) that were standard, not optional!! Auto changeover LP regulator (Jayco was manual!!), bed platform was solid, finished edges, smooth surface for mattress (Jayco was single piece of plywood, raw, unfinished)!!!! Never was under the trailer as to tank mounting, but do remember the Jayco fresh tank almost fell out!! Galvanized 2" strap sheet metal screwed to the frame members (half pulling out)!!! Pioneer - $10K new, Jayco - $18k new!!!! Our Outdoors is very well built, but has had some minor construction glitches that never had with the Pioneer!!!Re: Surge Protector - Hardwired without transfer switch?Baja, no bypass on the Hughes. Maybe one of its shortcomings!! It is bypassed, power from socket direct into trlr like it was. Don't travel anymore at the moment, trailer is up on land we purchased last year. May put in a quick connect so I can easily go between the Hughes and direct input if and when needed!!Re: Fresh water tankget a "turkey oil pump" to use in your water jug. Only 15-20 $$ and uses D batteries, pumps fairly quickly. Easy to store!! https://www.amazon.com/CHARD-FOP-23-Draining-Outdoor-Fryers/dp/B00HCC2L6A/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=deep+fryer+oil+pump&qid=1629739434&sr=8-2
