All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsCampground OwnersI'm looking for a few CG owners to connect with, I'm looking for some feedback from an owner's perspective. If you own or operate a park, would you mind sending me a pm? Or reply here so I can pm you? I have a few questions I'd like to run past you.Good Sam - what's in it for the campgrounds? There are a lot of good Sam participating parks that give discounts for this very cheap membership. I'm just wondering, what's in it for the park? Is it just hoping to get a little extra business by drawing in good Sam members? Or are there any other benefits to the park owners?Re: Slides out / levelWe have to put slides out in order to sleep kids in the bunkhouse. It's ok as long as you don't look like you are setting up for a long stay. Call ahead and ask permission, check in at the service desk when you get there and park where they tell you. I usually put the tongue jack down, not always the stabilizers. But I've heard that I should.Gettysburg with kidsWe're on our way to Gettysburg today, I'd like to make it as engaging a trip as possibly for the kids (age range between 1-15). We will do the visitor center and cyclorama, just wondering for those of you who have brought kids to the battlefield - tour or no tour? Self paced or battlefield guide? Any other ideas or suggestions?Re: Which van has largest tow capacity LarryJM wrote: AFAIK the highest tow related Vans were the 1T Ford 7.3/6.0L diesels with the 4.10 that were rated for 10K towing and 20K GCWR. My 2001 7.3 is one of those beasts.:B Larry What kind of gas mileage do you get with that? Towing and not towing.Re: Which van has largest tow capacityI looked at the Transit first because that seems to be the new popular van for families our size, but it doesn't look like they can tow worth anything. Our trailer is about 8500 lbs fully loaded, so I need something with some muscle.Which van has largest tow capacityI was doing a little research online today to try to start looking at what our next van should be. Mind you, I'm only starting to look, which means I'm a couple years away from actually doing anything:). But I want to know what my options are. When I bought our van in didn't really consider towing, but it seems like I'm driving the most capable towing van out there. Unless somebody knows of something better? I'm in a 2007 Chevy Express 3500, it's rated for 10,000 lbs towing, I believe 16000 gvwr. Which we hit the scales at just over 15,000, so all good there. But I don't know of any vans with a higher payload than that. Anyone know of any? I'm not opposed to just getting a newer version of what we already have, but just wondering if anyone knows of other options to check out. Oh I should mention we have 10 kids. So it needs to be a pretty big van:)Re: Zoo AtlantaWe did Atlanta zoo last year, but not with RV. I would not dare try it, I remember it being a pretty tight residential area. We parked on the street street with our van, even that was not very easy.Re: Cleveland Ohio CampingClosest I have found in my searches is Cleveland SE KOA, though we haven't tried it yet. I did learn that the parking for the football stadium, which is walking distance to both the science center and the rock n roll HOF, will accept RV day and overnight parking for a fee. I doubt they will let you pitch tents in the parking lot though:)Family Niagara Falls Campgrounds (US side)I'm looking to spend a couple of nights at Niagara Falls this summer, looking for campground recommendations on the US side. We're limited to the US side because we have foster kids with us so we can't cross the border with them at all. Favorite family campgrounds in the area for a family with kids?
