Thanks again for the answers. I’ve kind of given up on being able to reach attitude. I really don’t see the jeep weighing more than 3100 lbs max. I mean it’s basic. But I could see how that would be a lot of weight for the trailer all in one spot…although theoretically rated for it. It’s actually a fifth wheel. I already have owned it since November. I measured the jeep tonight, and it’s possible to get it down to 144 inches. Though it might require more unbolting than I’d want to deal with to get it in there. Enter the 18volt makita impact I guess (maybe). I’m not sure I trust the ramp either. I could always bring along some support for loading and unloading. Think I’ve for sure got some more research to do on all of this. I can honestly say that there’s only one trip per year where I’d like to have the trailer and the jeep at the same time, so I’m sure we can figure other works arounds.562Views0likes0CommentsRe: Wrangler YJ in 12 foot garage?
Thanks for the answers so far. I plan on weighing the jeep when I can. Was hoping for the next couple days maybe someone had a yj sitting in their garage. Power of thousands of people on a forum. I’ve also tried to contact eclipse in the past and not had luck with either getting ahold of anyone or not hearing back. Hi all, It’s been a bit since I’ve posted on these forums. I’m not honestly sure if my signature is updated accordingly. If not I’ll make those changes. Getting to it, last November I came in possession of a 2007 Attitude. The model is 36ckss. It’s about a 39 foot long triple axle fifth wheel with a 12 foot garage (and I’ve measured…it’s a true, exact 144 inches. There’s a sticker on the inside that says it’s got a 4,xxx-something lb payload rating. I believe with no toys I’m traveling at around 13,000 with empty tanks. Payload is 17,000. Now, have been thinking of getting a side by side for the family. But as much as I wanted one recently, I’ve ALWAYS wanted a jeep. Just makes more sense for the money and our lifestyle. And you can drive it on the street legally. Seems like a better fit for what we do. I learned this morning that I may be able to get my geandfather’s 4 cylinder yj wrangler. I know that doesn’t sound impressive, but you haven’t seen this thing wheel. It’s unstoppable! Ive also learned that a yj wrangler weighs about 2900lbs. Ive also learned that a yj wrangler is 153 inches long with the spare tire, stock! So, if I take the spare off, what are the chances that that gets me to my 144 inches? I’m also fine with pulling a bumper if I have to. Hoping that someone on here has a keep yj and can give me some insight on what they think and what the exact measurements would be. I have hope that this could work, but with the fifth wheel not being easy to get in or out to check physically, and the keep currently at the hunting property, I can’t verify any of this myself now. Lastly, what about the ramp? What are the chances that a keep is too heavy for it? Cross posted to Facebook. But also want to hear from people here. Hi all, I may have found an opportunity on a fifth wheel and I’m waiting on the specs, but I believe it’s going to be a 40 foot long Montana. Right now, hooked to my travel trailer, I know my truck is 22’ long and I have a foot more for the wd hitch, then my current travel trailer is 28’ long from coupler to spare tire. I can safely figure that I am 51 feet long overall when hitched. I’ve tried searching every way I can think and I’m not coming up with a solid answer for myself. I figured (and am probably wrong) that about three feet of the fifth wheel length will be in the bed of my truck, then about three feet of my truck will be under the fifth wheel. So if I take six feet away from the truck and the trailer, I’m coming up with about 56 feet long overall when hitched. Does this sound about right? Does anyone with a crew cab long bed truck know what they’re overall length is with their 40 foot fifth wheel hitched? Dinette might be hard to find because everyone seems to order with table/chairs but I'm with you on that one. It's built like a tank but you have the truck for it. Good luck! Solar, especially DIY is MUCH more affordable and the benefits of a residential refrigerator are HUGE as your family grows. Not to mention where we go camping, the generator is on 90% of the time to run the air conditioning...if not for us, for the dogs. Hi all, Little background. Have gone from truck camper to travel trailer. Have three dogs on the small size, biggest one being the size of a small border collie. A 19 month old, and we’ve recently learned another one on the way. Looking to get into a fifth wheel possibly for our next camper and have a bunch of time to figure it out, but hopefully getting something this year, pending all the other things going on around us. Tow vehicle is a 2018 Ram 3500 SRW long bed diesel, so not limited in that way as far as I’m concerned given the size I’m looking at. I have RV parking on the side of our house. Travel trailer currently sits there and is 28 feet from ball to back of spare tire and sits a couple feet back from the gate. I have no problem with squeezing something back there. Not sure exactly on what I could get away with at this time. But 31 feet shouldn’t be a problem and I’m pretty sure that 35 feet would be too long. Couple things I’ve been looking at and liking just tonight are the Sprinter line that keystone has. Would like to keep the out the door price at around a “family friendly” $35,000. Am open to looking at and for older stuff too. Doesn’t have to be new. But would like something that’s known for quality as far as looking at older stuff. Looking at all RVs and YouTube videos of walkthroughs is kind of a hobby of mine so I’m aware of a lot as far as brands and reliability of certain things. Something from Grand Design would be nice but might be a little more expense than I am willing to incur in the next year. So, as far as personal experience with a family of four plus dogs, does anyone have suggestions of what I should look into? Few quick notes, slides are fine anywhere as long as I can get to the fridge and preferably the pantry also when they are in. Not a lot of room to open up, load up, then close up and go. Has to be a two way fridge, lot of boondocking so residential won’t work. Bathroom should be accessible with slides in. Main bed should be usable with slides in. Would prefer a couch and dinette over theatre seats and a table. Lastly, if it’s doable in others’ experience, I know it’s difficult to find a bunk model in the lengths I’m looking at, so I’m not sure it’s necessary to have those dedicated beds. Still new to being a parent and the one still sleeps in a pack and play type crib when camping, so maybe it’s possible to just let the kids have the floor or the couch that makes into a bed in the main living area??? Suggestions for models I should check out? Hopefully if nothing else this is an interesting topic for people to think on and give their opinions.4KViews0likes13Comments
