Like others, we had occasions where we needed something that we could deploy close to the trailer due to space constraints. First, let me say that fully extended with the extra step, they are solid and very nice. It is really important to have steps that have equal rise and these fit the bill. Normal use great option! Now, the extra benefits we enjoy. 1) We use a rv-co deck/step system when we have room and are staying put more than a day or two. The GlowStep uprising steps are removable so we can take them completely out of the way. This allows us to set the deck system up close to the trailer and not have to use deck extensions. We still have room to open the storage bays. 2) When we park at home during the camping season, we park next to the laundry room porch. We can deploy the Torklift steps down onto the porch steps and access the trailer easily from the porch. Previously, we had to go down the porch steps and then over the trailer steps and back up. We are older and it was getting to the point of wearing us down loading/unloading the trailer or resupplying it. We highly recommend the Torklift Glowsteps uprising (uprising are the steps that mount in the doorway and fold inside the doorway when traveling). Full disclosure, we are product evaluators. Re: Non-halfton fifth wheel Have a look at the Northwood Arctic Fox Grande Ronde 5th wheels. They build their own frames and are well built. https://northwoodmfg.com/5th-wheels/arctic-fox-grande-ronde-5th-wheels/ Re: Really Cheap - 12v 100amp-hr Lithium Batteries Which model charger did you get? Re: Truck camper or 5th wheel in the PNW We know several couples that had same issue, liked to camp and fish. Two of the couples take 2 rigs, one pulling boat, the other pulling travel trailer or 5th wheel. They both did not want to go back to pickup camper that they had when they were younger. They both liked the space in ~30' travel trailer or 5th wheel, both liked a decent size boat. Both couples only take both rigs when camping/fishing within days drive of home. They generally only take the travel trailer when going on longer trips, although I heard one of the wives say that they should just stay in hotel and take boat so they can fish and then eat out and sleep in nice hotel... It all comes down to personal preferences and whether both want to be driving. Re: A fried converter, has anyone had this covered by insurance? You might get something from the insurer of the faulty source (i.e. the rv park that provided the faulty source). Re: 50amp wiring question One of the side benefits of the 50A surge protection I have is the app that lets you see the power draw on each leg.. It's on my to do list to document which devices are on which leg. We know the AC runs fine using one adapter to 30A Re: Suburban SW12DEL Water Heater On/OFF switch melts??? I would change the element also. Perhaps it is drawing more current than the setup is designed for. You could also use an amp meter to see how much current it is drawing.
