It is 14 and 15 Jun and has great country and bluegrass music. We have been twice and really enjoyed it both times. Also took a drive to Eagle, Alaska. We took a picnic lunch and stopped off in the mountains. It was a great drive to Eagle.Re: Dawson City > Chicken > Tok AKI have made the TOW trip 3 time in a motorhome, always with a tow. If I am not too old, and healthy enough, will make it again next year. My opinion on people that give advise on road conditions: 1] Three drivers, driving the same rig configuration, driving the same road, with a 15 minute separation between vehicles. Each are ask what they though of the road condition. 2 ] First one said it was the best road he has driven in years. 3] The second said it was OK but there were a few bad bumps, rough in a few places, and the road was too narrow. 4] The third one said it was the worst roads he had ever driven on in his life. My point. If you don't know the driving history of the driver you are listening to, you have no point of reference to determine how good or bad a road is. Tens of thousands of vehicles are driven over the roads in this section of Canada and Alaska each year. They are not that bad. My observation, and none of you know me, if you have driven the highways in Louisiana, I don't find any roads in Canada or Alaska to be any worse than those.Re: Dawson cityWe have stayed in Dawson City Campground 3 times. They have an RV wash. Depending on the services you need, or the size of your rig, the provincial park on the other side of Yukon River is a possibility. We have never stayed there, or even driven through it, but may work for you. It would depend on how long you are staying and if you want to use the amenities of the town. The ferry is free and only taken about 45 minutes a round trip. Don't remember when they start and end.Re: Seeking Advice on Atlantic Provinces TripWe made the trip to Newfoundland in 2007, stayed 9 weeks. Then went back to Newfoundland via Labrador in 2015, stayed 6 weeks. Both time in the same 40' motorhome. Answer to #1 - In our opinion it is always best to have the motorhome for comfort, but we also park in one place and take the toad when more practical. Answer to #2 - We have never has a problem with the roads, but then we don't mind driving on gravel roads. Example: the 380 miles of gravel highway in Labrador. Answer to #3 - By all means, if you just want to take a day trip around Gaspe then take the toad. We took the motorhome because we made it a 4 day trip. Was very enjoyable. You miss so much by just running around it in one day. Go and enjoy. We are going back to PEI for the summer. Will be our 5th trip there. In 2012 we spent 9 weeks, the other trips were just short 2 to 3 week stops. It is our second most favorite place, behind Alaska. Is a toss-up with Newfoundland.Re: Opinions a Please re Toad or No Toad!We have made the trip from Saskatoon, SK to Ottawa, ON twice; in 2007 and in 2013. Both times in a 40’ motorhome, pulling a toad. We don’t leave home without the toad. For both trips we left Saskatoon and stopped in the following towns. You can use a paper map or Google Map to see the route. In 2007, left Saskatoon, SK - Regina, SK – Brandon, MB – Thunder Bay, ON – Marathon, ON – Montreal River Harbour, ON – Sault Ste Marie, ON – Sudbury, ON – Ottawa, ON. The 2007 trip was 3,100 km In 2013, left Saskatoon, SK – Yorkton, SK – Portage la Prairie, MB – Kenora, ON – Ignace, ON – Thunder Bay, ON – Geraldton, ON – Moonbeam, ON – North Bay, ON – Ottawa, ON. The 2013 trip was 3,000 km. For scenery we preferred the route taken in 2013 but in 2007 we had a real good time in Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury.Re: Trip to Alaska! We will be starting our 4th trip to Alaska around mid-April. Have to stop in Saskatoon for 3 weeks to see the grandchildren inroute. Just ordered 2 copies of the Milepost. I use one copy to read about the next days travel, then cut out the appropriate pages from the second book. It is much easier for my wife to read the loose pages than trying to handle the complete book.Re: How long for the trip North?Five months.Re: Favorite Places in Alaska???1] Alaska 2] Alaska 3] Alaska 4] Alaska In that order.Re: Preferred RouteWe have made the trip 3 times. We look at the schedule of events and festivals in the Fairbanks area and the Anchorage area, then plan travels accordingly. Planning a return trip in 2018.
