Pan Pacific is off El Camino in Sacramento, they carry the Creekside trailers made by Outdoors RV. Also Bill Eads RV in Rocklin carries the Nash trailers by Northwoods. Both are top of the line manufacturers, I would choose them over anyone imho. You can PM me if you need any help. I'm biased as we owned a Nash trailer prior to our new Outdoors Wind River. If your truck is stock without a lot of installed options then the yellow sticker on the door ' passengers and cargo should not exceed 'is a good idea of what your payload can be. That includes the Trailer tongue weight, hitch itself weight and cargo etc. in the truck. I would use a weight distributing hitch no matter the size of your trailer.Re: New to travel trailer landLike DJ said mine was on the light itself but you had to look close!Re: Hitch questionCan't see a reason not to have one. Hence the name weight distribution. Makes perfect sense to me unless you're towing a teardrop maybe!Re: Possible to install larger fresh water tank?I guess if you don't care about your trailer warranty, go for it!Re: Thinking of Full Time would love some adviceA great resource to look at if you decide on a Trailer or Fifth Wheel is the 'Travel Trailer & Fifth Wheel Comparison Guide' by Randall Eaton. He rates nearly all of them made since 2006. Well worth the $69.95 price, it's a lifetime resource everyone looking should have. There are also great books on all types of Motorhomes as well. As others have suggested, once you have decided on the type of rig you want rent one. Good luck and Happy Holidays to you!Re: Ever get bored?Lots of great posts. It's what you make it. We have traveled a lot the last few years and are considering full timing soon. Will sell the house since it doesn't work for us anymore and upgrade to a fifth wheel because our current trailer is too small for fulltime living. We've upgraded the TV to a dually so that part is done. DW quilts and needle points and does beading(kumihimo) and knitting so her hobbies are covered. I golf and ride my bicycle and love to read. I'm anxious to do some workamping after we see all the national parks and we want to take the grandkids on trips as well. I think for us it will be maybe 4 or 5 months at a time and then back to our current area to see friends, family, doctors etc.Re: Possible to install larger fresh water tank?If you don't dry camp much I can't see why you would go to that expense, time and effort. It would certainly void your warranty, making structural changes like that. I don't know where you camp but we've never seen a campground that didn't have at least water. A lot of them don't have sewer for sure but almost all we've ever been to have water, or water and electric. FR would have many reasons to deny a warranty claim if you modified a brand new fifth wheel in my opinion. I would think about that aspect first. Good luck and Happy Holidays to you!Re: Towing golf cart and 4 wd truckPut the golf cart in the back of the truck would be my suggestion. Not sure if you could tow 2 vehicles legally in most states behind a MH. Haven't seen it! Did see a knuckle head on a backroad in Tennessee in a van towing a trailer and two boats. I was on my bicycle and couldn't get my phone out in time to get a picture.Re: Trucks are too tall for fifth wheelThose tow ratings are still BS. My 2011 F-150 Eco-boost had a tow rating of 11,500 but I was almost overweight with a trailer weight of 7800.Re: Fifth Wheel vs Travel TrailerTowing capacity is a useless number. On my former vehicle (2011 F-150 Eco-boost max tow), the towing max was 11,500 but I was out of payload with my 7800 TT. And the payload sticker on the door is about as useless. Mine was 1796 but when I weighed it with me and a full tank of gas it was only 1450. TW on my trailer is 1,050, max hitch weight is 1150 so I was real close to being overweight. Bottom line, do the research, go to a CAT scale. Plenty of help available out there. I now have an F-350 2WD DRW and 5,660 payload. Happy Holidays to all!
