That's a really nice boat that you have.Re: New Member questions on TCHi TC Dude, Yes, about 9 mpg all loaded up with gas, water, wife, and two grandchildren. I also added stable loads. I also agree with the suggestion to try a short local trip first. That's where you'll discover other things that you'll want to take along or leave behind. Happy Travels! KurtRe: New Member questions on TCHi TC Dude, With your dually, same as mine, heavy duty adjustable shocks are a benefit. No air bags, not needed. My big TC weighs just under 5000#, and the truck carries it well. Now, mountain driving will be a challange with the 6.0 and the 4 speed tranny. Just stick your foot in it, the engine can take it, and pony up $$ at the next gas pump. I have Happijack front mounts and TorqLift rear mounts and a TorqLift Superhitch. I have a front receiver and often carry the spare there. No problems with overheating. Happy travels.Re: Center of GravityCheck out that Starcraft closely. They were known to leak and rot.Re: quality question. Wolf creek VS PalominoHi Towpro, Take a look at WWW.livinlite.com All aluminium and nice ones in the 20's. Call the people there, they are nice folks. I have seen their TC's at RV shows. They will last a long, long time.Re: Has anyone built their own camper?Hi Phil, There used to be a contributor called "Sleepy". He may still be around. He built his first camper. It would be good for you to inspect an old wooden framed TC. Then you could see how the structure is engineered.Re: Got a dually. added link to gallery to share my solution.Hi, Our first TC was a '93 8'6" Lance. To put it on our (then new) dually, I had to extend the front jacks out nearly 8 inches. What I did was to get an 8' 4x4 and cut it into four 2' sections. I then bolted the jacks to the TC using the 4x4's as spacers (two on each side)(after drilling the necessary holes, of course). I used threaded rods and washers and nuts in place of bolts as I couldn't find any real bolts long enough. It was scary, but it worked fine and I still use this method for the Lance.Re: Truck camper for Toyota Tacoma - QuestionsCheck out LivinLite aluminum truck campers. They may have something that would work for you.Re: Cassette Toilet vs Conventional RV ToiletHi Y'all, RE smells: Our big TC has a regular toilet. And our small TC has a Porti-Potty (the electric flush one). From time to time, they have both had an odor. I've tried the orange stuff, and the green stuff, and the formeldahyde, and I didn't like any of them because they had their own smell. What works for me is baking soda. Sucks up odors like a sponge. And won't harm anything. And NO odors. I buy a 5 pound bag at Costco or Sam's and dump some into the holding tanks whenever I detect an odor. I dump in about a cup at a time and repeat if necessary.Re: Cargo Carrier QuestionI wouldn't worry about it. With a TC on your truck, you'll probably need two spaces anyway.
