They are working at evening and night, but call for 45 minutes delays possible.Re: Mt Shasta to TahoeTo get to Reno, we always take the 89, 44, 36, 395 and 50 route. It is faster overall, keeps you out of the misery of the Central Valley and Sacramento and avoids the grade down from Echo pass, which I did not like pulling a 19' trailer. All of the roads are good with minor climbs. When you get off of the 395 in Carson, it is a little convoluted but clearly marked. Zephyr Cove is on the 50.Re: Route & Point of Interest NV, Salt Lake UT, Yellowstone, Grand TetonFlagg Ranch is in Teton and may have openings http://www.gtlc.com/headwaters-lodge.aspxRe: Jackson Ca. To Reno NV.Markleville (which 88 does not go through) to Carson City is a little downhill then flat and straight. The hardest maneuver is around the roundabout at the Carson Valley pool. :-)Re: Northern California -> Yellowstone July 2015 2gypsies wrote: I wouldn't advise bringing bikes for YNP. The roads don't always have shoulders and the traffic is heavy. The Tetons have a bike trail in some areas. Our bikes never got off the racks when we were there. All of the things in Teton and Yellowstone are a good distance apart so you definitely did not ride from location to location. A little tootling around in the campgrounds might have been OK, but it did not really happen.Re: best route to portland oregon from lake tahoe ca.If you are looking for the nastiest, boringest route it is I-80 to I-5 straight into Portland. Shorter and not too hard is 395 to Susanville to the 49 to the 89 and up the i-5 from Shasta. That is likely the route your GPS is using and is a good road with no big climbs. a Much nicer drive. But probably to be considered is if you are going to do the whole drive in one long painful slog. If you are planning to stay somewhere on the way, I think the recommendations would change.
