(Maybe a burst of hot at first, then lukewarm). Any chance the valves in and out of the heater were opened, but the bypass valve was not closed?Re: Who Has Purchased A New MH Out Of State ?I bought from RvDirect. Took delivery in Iowa and I live i Illinois. RvDirect requires payment when the MH is ready to ship from factory. I sent them a check. They FedExed back the next day a completed Bill of Sale and Manufactuers Titles (chassis and coach). I took them to my Secretary of State, paid sales tax, title and registration fees and received plates. Drove to Iowa and picked it up 7 days later with my plates. No problems. Have also purchased a car in Missouri to register in Illinois. Received paperwork from dealer and paid $5 for a Missouri temp tag. Went to my Sec. of State and paid sales tax and fees and got plates. Illinois does not allow other states to collect their sales tax. They just require a Bill of Sale. If financing, it can be figured into deal and check written back to you for taxes.Re: Battery ChargingDo you have a battery disconnect switch on the house battery? If you do, it has to be "ON" for the converter to charge the battery when on shore or generator power. When engine is running it likely will charge house battery even if disconnect is off.Re: Forest River Solera adviceCheck forestriverforums.com for lots of information on the Solera. As for the windows, you will find on that forum that the rattling problem has been fixed.Re: Oil Changes,Where? My Chevy goes to the local Chevy dealer. They are happy to change the oil and perform other minor service. Haven't needed any major service, but I expect they would help with that also. I change oil according to computer service indicator, or at end of season before winter storage. Chevy requires synthetic blend, but I use full synthetic instead (Mobil 1).Re: Did you reinforce your frame extensions before towing?Forest River rates capacity of hitch receivers in consultation with frame manufacturer. Yours is rated 5000 lbs. so you will be fine. Recently they just went to 7500 on the Ford chassis--first class C in industry approved by frame manufacturer. Just don't exceed the total cargo carrying capacity of your MH. Should be on a sticker on the drivers door jamb. A trip to a scale would be a good thing.Re: Metal Valve extenders - TST tire monitoring sensors?I have been using the TST monitors for almost 3 years on braided metal extenders without problems. The extentions are attached to the outer wheel with a metal clip that keeps them in place.Re: What extras should I insist on in a new Class CIf you can get a good price on what you want from a local dealer then go for it. But don't be afraid of buying elsewhere, including internet like RvDirect.com, if price is right. Forest River will help you with warranty work, including referring you to independent repair facilities if needed. We saved $8000 over best dealer's price from RvDirect.com. What little warranty work we needed required checking with a couple of dealers until we found one that could get us in quickly. It was actually an air conditioning repair and Dometic arranged the location.Re: why would ford be the most used ,getting to back difficult. We love our 25' MH on the Chevy 4500 chassis. It has plenty of power, lots of leg room in cab, and handles very well without modification. We get 10-11 mpg on interstates at 60 mph, with full water and propane and lots of stuff for two people. Chevy chassis has a lower front axle weight than Ford E-450, so you will not find it used on the larger class C's. Chevy engine is forward compared to the Ford, resulting in a smaller doghouse inside and a slightly longer hood outside. We drove both before buying and selected the Chevy for passenger comfort. We have not been disappointed in any way. Not to say that there is anything wrong with the Ford--just different.Re: ths guy again?Be sure to shop around for company that sells RV insurance, not just adding on like a car on existing policy. I had insurance for autos with a company with a lot of A's in their name. Shopped and found Progressive with better coverage and half the price (about $500/year). MHs have very high MSRP compared to actual price paid. Old company would only insure for MSRP. We paid $35,000 less than that, but they would not come down on value. Progressive allowed me to specify a value that we agreed on for coverage, thus saving a bunch of money for coverage limits that I did not need.
