All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsHighway ConditionsDoes anybody know the current condition of the highway between Fort Nelson and Chetwyn? Is there a lot of road/bridge construction going on? Any long delays? Next week I'll be traveling that way on my way to Missoula, MT.Re: What Did You Do To Your Class B Today ?Handed my Roadtrek 190P (2015) over to Denver Spring and Suspension today for them to do a 2.25" lift on it. Front coil springs from Valley Spring Works in CA. They will also install Roadmaster Active Suspension system for sway control...if possible. This would eliminate need to move Onan generator to install Hellwig sway bar. Biting my nails waiting to see results and hoping all goes well. Last month I had a 100W solar panel installed. Great success and now no longer have to worry about house batteries draining. I drive my Roadtrek all the time as a second vehicle. BTW, what's this "drive to work" business? I have a vague recollection of having done something like that in another life. :DRe: Sirius/XM RadioMy experience towing a trailer with a 2007 Chevy 2500HD was that I had satellite reception, except when dropping down in the deep river valleys, all the way up to Watson Lake. Then it was spotty when blocked by a mountain or trees. Around Haines at sea level I rarely picked up reception except with an absolutely unblocked view of the southern sky which was seldom.Re: Roadtrek people, What does 190W mean on a 190 Poplular?I have a '15 RT 190 Popular. On the cover of the vehicle's manual the model is listed as "19PC". FWIW, I've never seen "W" in conjunction with a RT.Re: Doing it alone?I have made the trip to SE Alaska (Haines) numerous times since 2004 and always solo since my wife doesn't like the idea of the long drive from Colorado. I'm 77. In 2014 I started out and made it to MT before turning back due to illness. Turns out I had stage 4 colon cancer. It's in remission now and I'm heading off again in early June. It just takes a little planning and a certain mindset for being along a lot. Satellite radio really helps too! My only mechanical problems occurred in MT. Otherwise, it's just a matter of plodding along enjoying the scenery and wildlife. You're lucky to have the companionship of a dog. Our old cat wouldn't enjoy it and wouldn't talk to me if I took him. :-)Re: Hwy 37 in Northern BC garyhaupt wrote: mycopsycho wrote: explorenorth wrote: mycopsycho wrote: Anybody know about the status/condition of the Cassiar Hwy? I did it 2 years ago and there was a lot of construction along the southern part with the road torn up and a lot of delays. I believe a new transmission line was going in. There were no problems last year. The transmission lines are complete. Thanks. Think I'm going to go that way in June. If not then, then on the return from Haines in July and then go to Prince Rupert and pick up a ferry to Vancouver Island. Then drive down the island and ferry over to Vancouver or Port Angelis. Bit of the long way around to Denver but I H haven't done this before. You need to change your 'name' to Money Bags. Those two ferries? ohhh man....$$'s. Gary Haupt Thanks. Something I wasn't aware of. Will have to look into it more.Re: Hwy 37 in Northern BC explorenorth wrote: mycopsycho wrote: Anybody know about the status/condition of the Cassiar Hwy? It was full service and convenient to restaurant, grocery, etc.Re: Three Hundred Dollar SPEAKING GPS?I just ordered a Garmin Nuvicam LMTHD and should get it next week. Great deal post Christmas sale. I'd be lost without a GPSr in my Roadtrek. Have had one in all my previous trucks as well. Of course, all the newer models have voice commands and voice directions. Take your pick in accents. I'll have a Garmin Dezl 565 for sale soon. With my Roadtrek I don't need an RV-specific GPSr. I always use Allstays to find campgrounds.
