All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: I-75 closed in TNI was planning to use I-75 this Saturday from Chattanooga to Cincinnati. I'm going to change my route to go thru Nashville and Louisville. Adds about 1 1/2 hours to the trip. There are pictures online of truckers getting hung up on tight winding roads on the suggested detour routes. Also a TDOT guy saying that the detour roads has soft shoulders and are old and not built for big rigs. I'd rather stick to the interstates.Where do you stop for air? When traveling, where do you stop to put air in your tires? I've got a 32 ft class C and a toad. I can't fit into a regular gas station and never really checked out truck stops for their air pumps. I know a lot of RV people carry air compressors, but at this time, I don't . That's a topic for another time. Thanks for your suggestions.Re: Tankless Water HeaterHi, There is a lot of negative talk about tankless water heaters. DON'T BELIEVE IT. I have the Truma tankless water heater and it is GREAT. There was a very long thread on this subject that explains it all. Do a search on this forum to learn about it. IT WORKS.Load distribution.Hi, This is a hypothetical question, but has to do with load distribution. Let"s say that I have a 500 pound package to take in my RV on a long trip. Is it better to put the package in my toad or in the RV? I have a 32 ft Class C and pull a small SUV. Or, doesn't it matter at all.Gas stations you can get in and out of.....Hi, Planning our trip to Naples FL from Cincinnati Oh. I have a 32ft class C and I pull a Chevy Equinox toad. This my sound like a dumb and basic question, but has anyone noticed that it's hard to find a gas station you can get in and out of? Almost all gas stations are built so that you have to pull in facing the building. At 32ft and a toad, how are you supposed to maneuver out of these places? If I could only back up, it would not be as difficult. I get on Google maps and check out gas stations along the way where I need to stop, looking at the street view of the stations along I-75. I'm looking for the older versions, where the pumps are parallel with the road. Very hard to find one that will accommodate my rig & toad. I know that Flying J has many stations with RV lanes, but they're not where I'm going all the time. Love's and Pilot and other truck stops don't have gas in the diesel lanes. I'm having a hell of a time finding gas stations anymore. What does everyone else do when searching for a place to stop? KenRe: Towing equinoxHey jheppner, I don't run through the gears. Just run it in park. I use a Patriot brake system made by BlueOx. I can leave it in position while I run the Equinox.Re: Towing equinoxHi jheppner, Sometimes yes. It all depends on how long my travel day is going to be. Sometimes my fuel stop is at or very near my last stop of the day, so I just run it when I'm done traveling that day. My main point is that I don't overly worry about it. Once in the morning, once in the evening, and play it by ear during the day, depending on how long I travel that day. My original comment may not have been clear. Sorry. How to update travel map in signature?Hi, I've searched for this but can't find it anywhere. How do I update the map of my travels that's in my signature? I can't remember how I did it when I first used it. Thanks for your help. KenRe: Towing equinoxI'm towing a 2012 Equinox with a BlueOx towing package. At the time of installation, I had a fuse bypass switch installed. Works great and I don't have to pull a fuse and then re-insert it every time. I run it before and after towing. Since I I only travel about 5 hours a day, I run it at my daily fuel stop and don't worry about hours or mileage.Re: Tankless water heaterI didn't get the Truma to save money. I know that I spent more than most to get it. For me, it's a luxurary and well worth it. Don't we all spend impractical amounts on things that we want? However, this keeps the wife happy. That makes it a necessity and well worth it. I love it too.
