Winter is looking like it isn't gonna be pretty this year.Re: Good for kids 9 and 6 near York/Harrisburg/GettysburgI'm from Thomasville, being from York you know how close that is. Our local go to campground is Codorus or Pinchot State Park. Only electric hook ups. Dump Station is on your way out. We only stay at Pinchot when Codorus is full. Don't go to either without reservations, been filling up fast, especially if have a pet. Season ends soon also, but not sure when. But they both have fishing lakes. Check outboard regulations if have a boat. If no pet, Pinchot has campsites right along the water. Can fish right in your own campsite. Also has a small beach area. Codorus has kayak/boat/canoe rentals. I have also seen flyers at the bathhouse for trail riding. But do not know how close it is or when it closes for the season. Rangers have nature trail walks also. Both have miles of walking trails. Codorus has Halloween in the Park the weekend of the 23rd. So most of the campground is already booked.Re: HELP! Needed to know this yesterdayNot sure how big your camper is. But our pop-up the furnace did not work in it. We bought a heater that propane hooks up too. I believe it was made by Coleman. It was maybe like $40.00. It took one of the little green cylinder bottles of propane(like for a cook stove. The bottle just screwed in the back of the heater. Was the size of a large burner on a stove. We just sat it on our countertop in the pop-up. We also took it along last year on a tenting weekend in April. I live in PA so dropped down to like 36 degrees that weekend. IT took the edge off but still needed the fire in the morning to warm up. We are also planning a Halloween trip at a state park next mnth. Thinking about the cold nights also. But so looking forward to handing out candy to about 1000 kids per night and decrating our site.Re: Help with tethering the pups.We just do the untangle thing... but went with friends on our last trip out. She purchased a retractable cable tie out for her medium size dog before they left. It seemed to work real well. The cable was never on the ground and only reached out to the dog's collar....Can someone tell me how to read this correctlyWe are taking a trip for 10 days. We have never taken along a battery before. How do you read the lights on this monitor if we lose electric and have to rely on the battery? When the battery is hooked up the lights are the following colors... C-not lite up... G-Yellow...F- Red ... L-Red... The C is green when the truck is hook up. (We know this means it is charging) but at a loss on the other lights. Re: Pet ID tags, What info to put on it?I put my address and the dog's name on the tag also...but here in PA we also have to have our dog licensed..which that number also comes back to my address and phone number. I also have a tag from getmehome.com sponsored by Heartguard and Frontline. They have the dogs name, pic, address and phone number.Re: new water pump questionOH Boy..lol....I thought PSI's were the gallons per minute..I have only looked at camping world's water pumps cuz that is most likely where we will get it..I will get the make and model numbers later on tonight and post itnew water pump questionMy husband works long hours so I am the one to do the searching for the new water pump we need. All he is telling me is make sure it has enough PSI's I know what they are but not how much is good and how much is bad. Also I want something that is quiet when it kicks on. My youngest daughter doesn't like the bunks so she sleeps on the sofa where the pump is located when she decides she wants to come along. And is one brand better than another? Does anyone have any suggestions?Re: Looking for opinionsMy father passed away from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma at the age of 52. Before he passed and while he was still able, my parents did what they enjoyed doing most and money was put on the back burner. Yes money was very tight, but in the long run happiness comes first. Some of my mom's best memories are of this time. Mom had no incoming income and dad had his own garage. But once he got sick there was only the insurance check coming in. He was the only employee. I know she has no regrets on not having any savings. Think about it this way.. How happy are you and your wife gonna be if you do give up RVing? What is more important? Saving up for what might happen or doing what you love while you can. The future is a big question mark. So live for today.Re: Early morningahh...sigh....looking forward to that 9 day trip in August where I will be able to sit, enjoy my coffee with my dogs at my feet and just let my mind wonder and enjoy the sounds around me... THANKS GUYS for putting a bright spot in my morning and a smile on my face.
