For those of you who wondered about out TV... We already purchased a Dodge Ram 3500 mega cab, diesel. Excited about that too! Should work well togetherArctic fox 27 5L optionsWe are newbies in The RV world. Never had one and would like to seek help from all you experts on what, in your opinion, are the must-have options. For any 5th wheel is great, but we are purchasing the Arctic Fox 27 5L if anyone can comment on that specific model's options. What are things you are thankful you spent the extra money for? I'm just beginning to build our list and am just looking for thoughts and opinions from you all to help on that path. Thanks so much in advance for your advice. The dealer has listed these as "standard build options": Additional fan vent in bedroom Mor/ryde pin box Thermal pane windows Air hide-a-bed with pillows Fan vent with remote/Tstat/rain sensor Powered sliding stab jacks, rear Travel'R awning adj pitch hardware 6v batteries We want solar and the Thomas Payne sofa 68" w/air mattress 54x74 Is a 10 cubic foot refrigerator worth the $893 in your opinion? Seems it is included on a lot of the 5th wheels on the dealer's lot Generator? (Is this better to buy after market?) Awning toppers? 15k air conditioning with ducting? Vent in bathrooms? Central vac system. Storm windows? Holding tank heat pads? 50 amp service? 4 point leveling system? 6 point leveling system? Road trip sat (dish/direct) (HD sat... Call for options)? Winegard satellite / TV antenna combo? BBQ grill with bracket? Rear view camera?Re: short or long bed to tow 29' Arctic Fox 27 5L?Thanks all for the information. And, Bombero - I appreciate your thoughts, but I would never make my choice based on someone else's preferences - I've never owned either so I'm just gathering pros and cons from those that DO have a preference in order to evaluate and arrive at my decision. I'm leaning towards the Mega Cab. :-)Re: short or long bed to tow 29' Arctic Fox 27 5L?Thanks everyone for the information! A new option has been presented to me --- The Dodge Ram MegaCab which only comes with the 6'4" short bed. The wheel base is about 9" shorter than the CC LB - would that make much of a difference in towing and ride? The overall length is 10.9" shorter. Not sure if that makes parking and maneuvering any easier - it MIGHT mean it fits in my garage easier. The payload is just about the same as the CC LB. Since we will be having 4 adults and 2 kids ON OCCASION in the cab, this may be a viable option. Thoughts? I've never had either truck and I appreciate all the information I get from those in the know! Still looking at the Dodge 3500 SRW Cummins Diesel (maybe with the Aisin trans? - still reviewing that) to tow an Artic Fox 27 5L 5th wheel.short or long bed to tow 29' Arctic Fox 27 5L?Our plan is to purchase a 2014 or 2015 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Diesel LB to tow our yet to be purchased Arctic Fox 27 5L 5th wheel. The Arctic Fox dealer, while giving us the tour, noted that the 5th wheel's front cap is angled back to allow for it to be towed with a short bed truck. A short bed would fit in my driveway/garage easier and would work for any other purpose we may have for the truck but I've read that you really should tow a 5th wheel with a Long Bed. What are your thoughts on short vs long bed? What are the issues? Plusses and minuses? Thanks for your help, thoughts and advice!Shopping the best truck to tow a 5th wheelI'm so new at this and really appreciate all the answers I've received from this forum on my other topics. It's helped me make and change my decisions many times -- in search of the perfect (for us) FW and TV. I am now looking at a Northwood Arctic Fox 27-5L. The specs (taken from the Arctic Fox Web site - not a specific FW) are: Dry Axle Weight 7,782 Dry Hitch Weight 1,868 Net CC: 3,750 Dry Weight: 9,650 GVWR: 13,400 Length 29'5" I'm looking for a 2015 TV. I would like to have "wiggle-room" for comfort and safety. Any recommendations? Ford F350? Dodge Ram 3500? I'm open to Diesel and from what I've read that seems to be the way to go. I'd rather not go DRW -- but will if that will give me the edge I desire. Thoughts? Suggestions? What would YOU choose to tow this trailer? OH....a point I need to include is that occasionally, when we are bringing family along, we will have about 800 pounds of people/pets in the TV and we will be towing over the Rockies. Most often it will be just two of us - but I need to be prepared for the heavy payload. Thanks all for your help and advice!Re: switching from tent camping to 5th wheelJust curious about the previous comment..what didn't you like about a rear entrance?Re: switching from tent camping to 5th wheelgoducks10 --- great information and suggestions! Thanks!Re: switching from tent camping to 5th wheelLove the picture, bobx! Thanks for sharing. THAT's what I'm talking about! :-)Re: switching from tent camping to 5th wheelThanks bpounds! That's advice I can really use! We most likely will want to do a lot of camping at sites where we can't hook up. So I appreciate any and all advice about that. BTW, I'm your kind of gal not guy.:)
