Unless one is hiking, which you personally say you are not, all you will get is a stiff neck looking up from the bus. Except for the road down from the tunnel to the V C. We will be spending 5 days at Bryce again. At Bryce you will get a stiff neck looking down! LOL But I agree, I always wondered why Zion was even a NP. If Zion is your first NP you might like it. However if you've been to Yosemite, Yellowstone or the Teton's you will probably be disappointed.Re: Goodbye RoadtrekSorry for your loss! Hopefully you will meet up with your RT again in the great RV park in the sky.Re: Sprinter Reliability jjson775 wrote: Our 2006 Pleasure Way Excel was built on a Ford E-350. It was flawless. Changed the oil myself or took it to Walmart. Just bought another PW, a Pursuit, also an E-350. We never had a problem with our old one but if we did, we knew we could get a Ford fixed anywhere in the U.S. or Canada. As has been posted many times on this forum, it takes a lot of miles to recover the extra cost of a Sprinter by fuel savings. Probably works out for FedEx since they run all day long, every day. As someone else said it's just not the maintenance it's the comfort ability. I have had both types and the Sprinter gives you and your passenger a much better overall driving experience. I am sure if you go over to the Ford or Chevy/GMC van boards you will find naysayers their as well. BTW in my area diesel is about the same or a little less than unleaded regular. In addition to 21 mpg at 70 mph I like the torgue of the Mercedes diesel over the gas engines.Re: Ultimate mini-camperSo why does MB allow European RV manufactures to cut the roof on the Sprinter Van but not North American manufactures without losing the warranty. RT can't even put the three windows in front. They have to use vinyl stickers. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/142848619404300843/Re: Stealth campersThere are all kinds of places you can park for free like WalMart, Most Indian casinos offer free overnight parking. WalMart sells a road atlas for under $10.00 that lists the address of all their stores. Camping World sells a book on free overnight casino camping. http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/casino-camping-6th-edition/70670 I would stay out of large towns and off the main highway that goes through the town. Our town is so small it doesn't even have a police department. Another place to look for are trail heads which are usually within a couple of miles off the road. they normally have parking places for hikers to park their cars and are seldom visited by the authorities.Re: great west vans moving from Canada to winfield alabamaThe owner is an Auburn fan? :BRe: Sellers RemorseI regret marrying my first wife! :)Re: Sprinter BI can't swear to this but I think Dodge dealers can still work and get parts for Sprinters as they were sold with the Dodge badge. We bought our 2007 RT RD Adventurous with the 2006 chassis and the 5cyl engine. The MH had only 10k miles on it and we paid $50k. It looked and ran like new. We recently did a trip from the Oregon Coast to Quartzite, AZ then up to the Grand Canyon. We continued up through Salt Lake City and Boise, ID and then at Ontario, OR came across US 20 to the Oregon Coast. We drove between 65-75 MPH when we could and averaged 20 mpg. The Sprinter ran flawlessly and handled great I drove it on Hwy 89 in Arizona through Prescott, Jerome and Sedona not an easy road to traverse but the Sprinter went over it without a hitch. As I understand it the 5 cyl and 6 cyl have the same horsepower, the 6 cyl has slightly more torque. The 5 cyl gets 2-3 more mpg than the 6 cyl. We are very happy with our purchase.Re: One Month Road Trip in Roadtrek 170Did I miss it, you are single correct. I think it's an ideal size for a single person. Not so much for a couple. However I did read someplace where a couple were full timing in a 170.Re: Mercedes-Benz Sprinter engineI have the 5 cyl engine. It's a 2007 Roadtrek on a 2006 Freightliner chassis. Shell Rotella T 15-40w is a recommended oil for this engine. The 2007 and on 6 cyl. uses a different spec like you said. If you have the 5 cyl engine the Rotella T oil is ok to use.
