The cold rolled steel cook top is the same cooking surface on all models. When i got it new, I cleaned it...scrubbed it lightly, heated it and wiped it with canola oil to season. I did this 2 or 3 times then cooked a pound of bacon on it and it's was good to go. When I am done cooking with it, I squirt plain water on it..steams it up and loosens any junk, then I put a light coating of oil on it, wait for it to cool, then put it away. Non stick functionality has been outstanding...I can flip an over easy egg, no problem. Lots of good You Tube videos on it. HuckRe: Blackstone griddleI haven't used my old BBQ's since I got one. I now have the 17" for camping and the 36" on the deck. I can cook anything on that thing....eggs, pancakes, pizza, tots, veggies, steaks, burgers of course....love love it. I cooked tacos for 165 people for the company Christmas party 2 weeks ago. I used 2 36" Blackstone grills side by side. 100 lbs. of ground beef and chicken breasts. Whew! Worked great though. Clean up took 5 minutes. Works great in the winter too....just warm it up for awhile. I bought the Stainless Steel model on a HOme Depot deal of the day for $199. Go for it!Re: sprinter CARGO VAN converted to a camping vanI sold my TT last year and bought a well used 05 Sprinter Cargo High roof last year (200k miles, no DEF). My son and I made it a fun project. Now it's a fully outfitted rig that is perfect for weekend trips boon docking or staying in a campground. We take it to the Ozarks for some trout fishing in the boonies or we hook up our boat and take it to local lakes for some overnight bass fishing trips. We discovered that we spend 95% of our waking time outside of a camper, so a big camper is not important to us. A couple of 8" memory foam bunks make sleeping fantastic. A DIY awning helps too. Solar, LEDS, Porta Potty, good beds, small kitchen, fantastic fan, perfect! 21 MPG! It was a ton of work but worth it. If you have the time, space and money I think that it's a great project. I would do it again. I am sold on the conversion platform. Totally versatile, economical, stealthy and fun. I love it! Fell free to PM me with any questions.Re: Traveling with roof vents open...good or bad idea? BarneyS wrote: My roof vents, covered with an aftermarket cover, stay open 24/7 whether stationary or traveling down the road. :) Been that way for almost 15 years on our present trailer. Barney Same for me. With vent covers, my vents have been open 24/7/365 for many years with zero issues.Re: Katy Texas Trailer Storage Jay Pat wrote: I would google "rv storage katy texas". The person who posted it said most people won’t notice the difference between how a 1/2 ton and HD ride. I don’t believe that many would not notice it, seriously, it’s not even close. Not flaming but do you disageee that anyone who couldn’t tell what type of truck they’re driving would be qualified to pilot a long heavy combination vehicle? I’ve seen people that likely wouldn’t know the difference. They also don’t drive very well. Sorry if you took it as a personal affront. I don't disagree with the importance of using the right tool for the job. I also see scores of overloaded 1/2 tons on the roads. Scary. It's not a big deal. I just kinda woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. One of those nights when I slept "like the dead" and woke up feeling like a zombie. I just thought that you might be focusing on the wrong thing. No big deal. Peace....Re: 1500 vs 2500 Grit dog wrote: ^ What Shiner said. On another note, anyone who “won’t see the differences” in how a 1/2 ton vs 3/4 ton rides and handles (any brand) probably isn’t observant enough to be towing a traielr! Grit Dog.... capturing this particular statement, completely out of context and irrelevant to the OP's post, is unwarranted and reflects poorly on you. Sorry to say that.....just today was the day when flamers like you got to me. Out.Re: Need confortable chairs that pack up in a tubeBad back here. I struggled for years to find just the right chair. Finally I tried the Strong-back chair. Not cheap, but I've had it for 6 years and it's held up perfectly. Best bag chair that I've ever had.Solar System Summer MaintenanceI built out a Sprinter Van as a Class B. I have 200 Watts solar on the roof along with 2 ea. 6V Costco Golf cart batteries (220 AH). System works great. My question is this. Since it's so insanely hot (KC area), I'm not using the Van much during the summer. The van is sitting in my driveway waiting for it's next adventure. I am not able to head for the Oregon coast right now...although I think about it hourly! Any advice on maintaining the batteries while it sits in the sun (some shade but plenty of sun to keep things charged up) all day without any usage? I have a battery controller (controls charging cycles) and all of the necessary connections. Is it O.K. to just let the controller do it's thing.....bulk charge - trickle/ maintenance charge? New to the whole solar thing and looking for advice from experienced solar users on the best way to maintain battery bank during periods on non usage. I did search but did not see exactly what I needed. Thank you HuckRe: Zep polish?I used it on my 2005 Travel Trailer. First, I gave the camper a good cleaning. Then applied 4 coats of ZEP. Easy to apply. Results are fantastic. The shine stills looks good after being outside all winter. If you want to restore a brilliant shine without a ton of work or money, then ZEP seems like the way to go. I would use it again.
