All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Good sam extended service planjajefmly, Good Sam Extended Service Plan will cover repairs done at any repair shop, not just at Camping World. If you call the customer service number on your membership card, we can refer you to one of thousands of repair facilities that we have worked with and that we know will stand behind their work. jdb7566, Good Sam Extended Service Plan is more than just a "real" program, it is the only service plan in the industry that is fully insured by an A+ rated insurer. We have been taking care of our customers for 20 years and paying out millions in claims each year. Please do your research before you slam a quality product.Re: RV Coverage for disasters??I'm sorry that you are so confused about Good Sam ESP, Insurance and Extended Warranties in general. Good Sam does reimburse you up to $160 per day for up to five days for lodging, food and rental car expenses when you are unable to use your RV because of a covered repair. There is no five day limit on the cost of the repairs. Many repairs take weeks. ESP will pay up to the NADA value of the vehicle for covered repairs, and we pay claims day after day. While there are many unethical extended warranty companies out there, Good Sam has been paying claims for 20 years. We routinely pay $8,000 to $15,000 for a blown gas engine, and once in a while we pay out $30,000 or more for a blown diesel pusher. Even a simple refrigerator replacement or repair can take more than five days and we routinely pay for these and many other failures every day. That's why we have more than 175,000 RVers covered by Good Sam ESP- because we do pay claims. Your homeowners insurance will never pay for mechanical failures. That's not what homeowners insurance is for. Good Sam ESP will not pay for floods, fires, collision or theft. That's what your RV Property and Casualty and your Homeowner's insurance is for. It's not a question of one being better than the other, they simply cover different kinds of risks.Re: RV Coverage for disasters??Most Extended Warranties or Service Contracts would cover the cost of repairing the broken pipe, but not the consequential damages caused by the break. The Good Sam ESP available at the Camping World RV dealerships has an optional Consequential Damage coverage that would include coverage for the water damage. This product is normally offered only when you are buying an RV, but in most states, it can be sold to a customer who did not purchase the RV from Camping World. Worth checking out at your local Camping World!Re: Two Good Sams Extended Service Policiesstargirl96, Both Good Sam ESP programs are 100% backed by the Good Sam Club. The coverage between the two programs is very similar. The product sold through Camping World RV sales is a typical Vehicle Service Contract designed to be bundled with the sale of an RV, and can be easily financed along with the RV purchase. This allows the potential for a lower monthly payment when the contract is finance for the life of the RV loan. The product sold directly to Good Sam Club members was designed as a direct-to-consumer product, allowing us to offer this type of protection even when you did not buy from Camping World, or if you have had your RV for some time, or purchased on the private market. Because we are offering this directly to the club member, this is actually a Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Policy rather than a Vehicle Service Contract due to regulatory compliance reasons. As an insurance policy, there is no flexibility on pricing, other than changing coverage levels and deductibles. Because this product is designed for customers who are not in the RV buying process, we offer monthly payment plans for the life of the policy term. There is no "better" plan for every individual, it really depends on where you are in the RV ownership cycle and what your individual needs are.Re: Paint/gelcoat protection warrantyThere is no requirement to use only Camping World locations for repairs. We have a list of 1,000 preferred providers who work with us on repairs for our ESP customers. You can also take your trailer to any qualified repair facility closer to you, as long as they call for authorization prior to making the repairs. If you call the customer service number on your ESP membership card, we can help you locate a qualified facility closer to you.Re: Considering Good Sam's Extended Service Plan --NewbieNewbie, Good Sam ESP does not allow the use of used parts for the repair or replacement of failed components. The Policy wording is: "Replacement will be made with like kind and quality to include rebuilt or remanufactured parts. Parts may be upgraded to “new” at owner’s expense." In practice, this means that we will replace an engine or transmission with a rebuild engine or transmission as long as that rebuilt meets the same standards as a new one ("like kind") For most other components, there are no rebuilt or remanufactured that meet the "Like kind" requirement, and therefore new components are authorized. If a policy holder insists on a new engine rather than a rebuilt that meets the same standards, they would be required to pay the difference in cost. And of course the rebuilt component is covered by ESP against failure going forward.Re: Extended Service Plan CancellationHi Ostbob, Your policy will be cancelled effective today, per your request. Your reimbursement for the tire claim will also go out today. I'm sorry for the confusion, our customer service agent wanted to insure that we did not cancel your policy if there was a claim pending approval. The claim has been approved, so there is no issue. We are sorry for the inconvenience.Re: Extended warranty optionsI can't speak for all warranties or service contracts, but if you have Good Sam ESP, you are welcome to apply the cost of the repair or replacement of a covered component that fails to a upgraded item. The amount of claims paid out on your ESP does not impact your rates at all.Re: MaintenanceAll ESP Policy holders are entitled to a free inspection at any Camping World store annually. The inspection is 22 points for motorized RVs and 16 points for towable RVs.Re: Extended warranty problems @ camping worldWe are more than happy to get the situation resolved. All we need to get to work on this is the information Stacy requested immediately after the first post.
