I have a '06 Monarch with a Onan 5500 air cooled and had a problem similar to yours.The generator would just suddenly stop running when a/c units were on.1st time I was in 100 degree weather so thought just to hot , happened again in warm wheather but would start after cooling about 15 min.but would run for only10 mins. At home in drive way started checking things out serviced gen. Problem continued, took to a repair shop and after a few hours checking things out and calling Onan they found that the gens fuel pump was getting real hot and could actually burn you if touch. I've towed a 2013 Fiesta for about 8000 miles(Cal.to NY.and back) with no problems. Just follow the owners manual for rv pulling and disconnect the negative side of battery, I use a #10 nut driver. I pull with a Ready Brute w/Ready Brake and light system. With the car being so low to the ground in the front I've added a bra to the car when I tow, paid off in a 25 to 30 mile an hour side wind in New Mexico as the road department tossed a large shovel load of asphalt on to the highway. Missed the MH,but took about 2hrs. to clean the bra and windshield, can't imagine the time if no bra and the tar and rock got through the grill. Can't help with the gas cap settings,but found out from my credit card banks that if you let them know you are traveling during a certain time period and that you will be using the card multiple times a day at one vendor they will not flag your card. Sure helped on our Calif. to D.C. trip. Used same card 4 times at one gas station, $50.00 limit so swipe card - pump gas, swipe card - pump gas,and so on. Thought I was in a club by myself. MY Norcold lower door hinge broke off from the door,cheap plastic. I repaired it by making hinge out of 11/2" x 24" x 1/8" aluminum flat stock. Used the broken end as a pattern for shape and hole placement. Then cut total length to about 14" and the width to the width of the bottom of the door. Sheet metal screwed the new hinge to the bottom of door and set it on the door peg ( used a couple of small washers on peg for height adjustment). Many happy miles later and still working fine.361Views0likes0Comments
