I've been a nomad for many years and felt it gave only a small slice of what the lifestyle is llke, a depressing one.Re: Fantasizing, I supposeGet an Aliner or Chalet hardside popup/ I've full-timed in both with dogs and a cat and they're great, esp. if you have something like a Clam screen tent. But good luck finding either in this climate, and they're now getting overpriced.Re: Leaving Illinois, going full time.Best wishes on your new adventure. My advice is to NOT buy much for now, but to wait and buy stuff as you need it. I've been full-time and then part-time off and on for many years, and I tend to want to have everything I might need at hand, then never use most of it and then get tired of shuffling it all around and downsize, then go through it all again after awhile. It's a security mindset, but you won't need most of what you think you will, Don't carry too much stuff, it will just get in the way. Have fun and don't overthink it.Re: Camping in Jasper area last two weeks of SeptembeWell, it's the 21st and according to the webcams, it's snowing in and around Jasper. All other things considered, it looks beautiful.Re: AG inspections coming into US at hwy 97 (Oroville)I agree with Lakeside. Pretty tired of the attitude that the border agents take things for their own use. How about some proof.Re: Kebler Pass, Colorado, with a small agile trailer?Kebler's easy, as long as there's no snow. I once drove my mom's big Caddy across it.Re: Kananaskis Country Trip ReportOh no, here we go again about the bear spray thing. I always buy my bear spray in the U.S. and show it to customs and they've never had a problem. Just be sure it says bear spray, not mace.Re: Virginia City Montana ?'sIt's not a large town and has lots of casual parking around town. You won't have any trouble at all, can probably park within distance of anywhere you want to go. Shouldn't be busy if you're going this time of year. Check it out on Google Earth street view.Re: Your input - Motorhome and boondocking..Check out these guys. They're Canadians but always boondock in their MH: http://www.travelwithkevinandruth.comAlaska Highway ClosedAlaska Highway closed from the Yukon border to Coal River because of fires.
