It's basically drum laid on it's side, with hookups at 12 and 6 o'clock. The lowest is the inlet already, so a dip tube isn't going to change much such as you would need for a household water heater where the inlets come in the top. Or am I missing something?Found in the water heaterFlushing out our new-to-us 2005 Roadtrek with the 6 gallon Suburban gas/elec water heater. Today, after learning that even when dead cold and the rest of the water system is drained, that the water heater will still hold pressure (I needed a shower anyway), I noticed something loose in the bottom of the heater. Fished it out with some needle nose and now I have this: I'm guessing it some sort of flow diverter, probably to keep the sediment stirred up off the bottom (and this one has plenty! Wondering if the previous owners bathed in sand). In fact, the piece is partially obstructed with sediment. Is it important? Is it even part of the water heater, or some previous attempt at a flush tool? It's about 2.5 inches long overall, and plastic. It is cracked slightly. I'm guessing that if it lives inside the tank, that if it was important, it's pretty much serviceable. I haven't been able to find it on any of the parts lists that I've checked. Thanks! --TravisRe: 2013 2500 HD Denalli Truckhttp://www.gmc.com/content/dam/GMC/global/master/nscwebsite/en/home/Owners/Manuals/01_Images/13Sierra-Denali-Owners-Manual.pdf Page 10-80 Flat towing: If it's AWD, it's a hard "no". 2WD is also shown as a hard "no". 4WD seems to be OK since you can shift the transfer case into Neutral (10-81) You can dolly a RWD or 4WD truck it seems.Re: 6 speed transmission questions.GM Says you don't even need T/H until you're > 75% of the tow capacity, but there's no harm in using it whenever -- just possibly reduced gas mileage. I tow ~6k on my 1/2 ton Silverado 1500 -- I use T/H when it's hilly, or when in town. Out on the highway and up to speed I usually drop it out and let it shift into 6th when it wants to. Use M and select a gear if it's hunting. You probably have a transmission temp gauge via the DIC - use it. If you're climbing over 200, you're getting into the problem zone. I can switch into T/H and watch the temp drop.Re: Bike RackThere's plenty of bike racks that fit into a 2" receiver. Is that what you're talking about? http://www.amazon.com/Allen-Sports-Deluxe-4-Bike-Receiver/dp/B001PLG7UK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1376920681&sr=8-2&keywords=hitch+bike+rack Or are you looking for something that would attach to a drawbar and retain the ball as well?Re: Covering Roadtrek A/C vents in winterWhat you want to cover them for? It's a heat pump to, so you may still wish to use it, not?Re: To the good samaritan on I-29 in South Dakota yesterdayIf you decide to be a Good Samaritan though, PLEASE use some common sense! On our way back from Ohio yesterday pick up our "new" (and first!) RV, we could see in the distance a 5th-wheel pulled over on the right shoulder with someone along the drivers side (between the truck and the right lane of traffic!) fiddling with something. Folks slowed down for the most part, some got over to give room. One guy in the left lane I guess thought he would be the hero and stop to help, and did a panic stop into one of the emergency crossovers that happened to be there. This nearly set off a multi-car accident and the other vehicles in the lane reacted. A couple ended up diving for the shoulder even. As for the original trailer stopped - as soon as we got up on it we could see the fuel nozzle from the bed mounted tank in use, transferring fuel. Pretty sure he didn't need help. The message here? Don't make the situation worse! Swooping in the lend a hand sure isn't worth it if you end up causing an accident in the process. There was no fire (or smoke) making it a life or death situation, but it almost turned into on in the process.
