Shaffer, I dont know who said the Chevy / Gmc had "soft suspension", but they dont know what they're talking about.Dodge is the one that had low tow weight ratings till recently. we Have a 43' 5th wheel toyhauler and with 2 Harleys in it are well within the weight limit for our Denali crew cab dually. the trailer is a 3 axle and is 14000 dry weight. Weve been to Montana and back a different route, up and down the east coast and have never had a problem finding a campground that wouldnt fit a 43'. That includes national parks. Dont be scared off, the diesel duallies will do the job. and you won't have trouble finding campgrounds.503Views0likes0CommentsRe: Towing with Silverado
had a 1500 Chevy 5.3 that we pulled a two horse trailer with. It was fine here in Rhode Island with our rolling hills, but in Pa. every hill it shifted out of overdrive and the engine screamed all the way to the top. Gas milage was bad, and the shifting and engine noise sucked. If you get a 2500 or 1500 with the 6 liter engine you will not have these problems and will actually get better milage. My son has a new 6 liter 1500 Silverado, tows a two horse with dressing room and gets over 20mpg when not towing. I have a 2009 KZ 4012. The water pump is behind the water valves and sewer dump valves in the left pass through compartment. You must remove the screws thaty holdthe plastic panel in place, swing it out a little and you can access the pump and filter there. Mine didn't have a shut off to drain the water tank, had to put my own on the drain hose under the trailer. You will find there warrenty is outstanding, they will bend over backwards for you. I have a 4012 Inferno and couldn't be happier. I pull it with a 2012 Denali crew cab dually Duramax. Quality in the KZ is excellent and their warrenty is first class and customer service as well. I had a problem with a tire at almost 2 years and they replaced all 7 tires, spare included, no questions asked. They also paid a local body shop to replace a panel that was damaged when the tire blew. You can't beat that kind of customer service! Fit and finish are great, and quality of materials as well. KZ has a loyal fan in Me. I think you would have have a hard time finding better products and warrenty than thiers.281Views0likes0CommentsRe: DC over memorial day
DC on Memorial day weekend hosts Rolling Thunder. The City is closed to all vehicles except Motorcycles on Sunday for the Ride To The Wall, The Viet Nam Memorial, to honor and remember our unaccounted for POW's/ MIA's. Its a tradition for close to 30 yrs now. About half a million bikes and riders come from all over the country for this event. It's mostly ignored by the media, along with the Viet Nam Vets, but if your a veteran or Patriot it is a moving and memorable experience as 500,000 bikes with flags and Honor Guards cross the bridge and ride the loop around the Mall. Ashaway RV park opened May 1st. It's on Rt216 about 3 Miles south from exit 93 off I95, on the left across from Pete's store. Also try Charlestown Breachway state camping, you'll be rite on the beach. You can only stay for a limited number of days though. There's no law in my state that say's you must register here. But if there is in your state, and you get stopped, the registration says the trailer belongs to "Blank Blank Holdings" in Montana, How is the cop going to prove that you own it? Is it illegal to tow someone elses trailer in your state? Or park someone elses trailerr in your yard? You could be leasing it, for all they know.
