Does what y'all are saying apply to the portable units as well? We haven't bought a generator yet, but I'd like to stay away from ones that don't "play well" with my PT50, if possible! Progressive EMS - PT50C Re: Increase Wifi Hot Spot ReceptionWe use the new WeBoost 4GX (formerly Wilson) cell booster with our Verizon MiFi. It works wonders when we aren't getting a great cell signal. It can used for more than one device unlike the cradle. It's not cheap, but when you need cell signal, you'll usually be willing to do anything for it...especially if you need it for work. They do offer a WeBoost 4GM that is less powerful (and less expensive). WeBoost Cell Boosters optionsRe: WiFi booster? We use a booster and repeater which helps with basic internet reception at most campgrounds. It doesn't guarantee TV streaming since a lot of campgrounds don't provide the bandwidth for that, but it has definitely improved our ability to use a campground's WiFi. I wouldn't travel without it. Our cell plan is too expensive to not use free WiFi whenever we can! WiFi Booster and RepeaterRe: Rand McNally or Magellan gpsWe love our Rand McNally 7730. We bought it for about $295 at TechnoRV and received very detailed emails from them that helped us learn how to use it. It had great pictures and easy to follow directions and saved us from having to sift through a huge owner's manual. Even if you didn't buy it from them, you can get the Learning Series from them. It really is super informative. I think they do it with most of their products. Anyway, my vote is for the Rand 7730. http://www.technorv.com/Rand_McNally_RV_GPS_s/189.htmRe: Surge Protector - Progressive, or something better? In case you guys are wanting to buy a hardwired Progressive (with or without a remote), I wanted to let you know where we bought ours - TechnoRV. They are running their Progressives lower than Amazon right now. They also have great information materials about the products and installation. You can't go wrong with a Progressive. We love ours! http://www.technorv.com/Progressive_Industries_Hardwired_EMS_s/172.htmRe: RV surge protectionThese are the cheapest Progressive Portable Protection Systems we could find when we bought. TechnoRV sends you a Learning Series when you buy them too that is very helpful. They are actually cheaper than Amazon right now by about $30. Lifetime warranty too - all you have to do is send them back and they send you a new one. http://www.technorv.com/Portable_30A_Surge_Protector_Voltage_Protection_p/pg-ems-pt30c.htm
