Yes in the sense that I have found myself feeling like I bought something I didn't need. I have no problem spending money on my friends and family, but when it's me and it's big, it messes with me. No one "NEEDs" a RV. It is a optional hobby. People only get them because they want them. You only need one if you WANT to go RVing. But since you did get one. I would suggest you forget about the money you spent on it, and start thinking about the great times it will give you in return. And do remember. No motel room, or Condo, can give you what the camper can. So just relax, and enjoy, and honestly. IF you don't want it. sell it. It's good advice. I think when I tow it a few times, set it up and take it down a few times, it will be better. We had a popup prior to this and we really enjoyed camping. I think when we experience the trailer, it will be that much better. And no more walks to the showers and bathrooms.Re: Has anyone else panicked after they bought a trailer? 2oldman wrote: This is about money, isn't it? Where your first trip will be what modifications you plan to make. Take the time to brag a little. We got a rockwood 2507 that was marked down at a dealer near us. It's a couples trailer. My wife has been after me to do this for several years and I kept putting it off. We put down a pretty good down payment and we stayed under our top budget by a little. We did finance part of it, but the payment is manageable for us. We also got a used 2018 f150 that only had 17000 miles on it at 20K less than the original owner paid for it. It had a full tow package, and I traded in our 2017 Tacoma on it. We didn't pay a lot for that truck and we had 5000 in it to put on the used truck. I was going to tow the camper with the Tacoma, but I got a lot of advice that it was probably not a great idea. So to be safer and more confident towing, we traded it. In the end, the new payment on the used truck is almost $100 less than the previous truck. I think I've just been a little overwhelmed making so many big purchases at once. And going Toyota to Ford left me wondering if I was making a mistake. I'm a confident decision maker usually at work, etc. But when I make these types of decisions for myself, I tend to second guess, etc. I really appreciate all of the thoughts and feedback, very helpful. I want this to be a good thing for my wife, she deserves it.Has anyone else panicked after they bought a trailer?I think I'm nuts. We just bought a new trailer and we traded in my old tacoma for a larger truck that could pull it. We looked for months, went to RV shows, looked at dozens of sizes, floorplans, and styles. We finally settled on one, and found a really nice rockwood mini. We stayed in our budget, and the truck is used. My wife is thrilled, and I'm panicked. I've towed it without any problem, but I feel like I won't be able to manage it, and I'm feeling guilty for spending the money. We've been talking about this for years, and now that we've finally done it, I'm not getting the enjoyment I should be because I don't seem to be able to give myself permission to. We're taking our first trip in a week, and I'm looking forward to it. I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen. I know this isn't a support group, but I'd appreciate any advice or experiences anyone could share. ThanksRe: Tacoma for an F150We found a 2018 F150 in really good shape with integrated trailer brakes and trailer backup assist. We had enough value in the tacoma to put down a decent down payment and my payments will be less than what I'm paying now for the smaller truck. So we'll have a solid and safe tow vehicle. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help me out with this.Re: Tacoma for an F150 jshupe wrote: What kind of trailer did you pull @5700lbs? It was a 29 foot Grey Wolf. I did it as a test. Went up hills fine, came down fine, needed better sway control. But just so no one thinks I'm totally crazy, I thought it was too big. I wouldn't pull that all the time with this size truck.Re: Tacoma for an F150 ib516 wrote: 26' TT with a 5300# unloaded weight and a 6800# GVWR. Hitch weight is about 750#. That'll be a pretty big load for a Tacoma, but for short trips over mostly level terrain, I'd say it'll be ok for one season. You'll be working the guts out of that Taco if you run into a situation where you have to fight a head wind. It's 25', not sure if I said that. And the hitch weight is 680. I've already pulled 5700 and it didn't blink. But I agree it's not a long term TV, and not the best one for the job. Just looking to get started before I bang up my bank account again. Still, if the right vehicle comes along, we may go early.Re: Tacoma for an F150 Grit dog wrote: Didn’t see this one coming! Something new everyday here. Guy asks about towing basically to the limit of his truck or upgrade? The weight cops are asleep and he gets reasonable answers instead that “allow” him to tow, since he was asking for the answer. Then the feller says he’s going to upgrade now anyway! Bam! I don't know if anyone said it was ok, and I don't know that I said I was going to upgrade. I had been considering it anyway, I just wanted to get some other thoughts. All of our early trips are short, on level roads, and my truck will be ok till we start filling the camper. I know at some point, I need to move up. I'm really just trying to figure out whether I do it now or later this year. I'd like to hold off, and I appreciate the thoughts.Re: Tacoma for an F150I appreciate the responses. I guess I might have to bite the bullet and trade the truck in on something bigger. It's not the ideal time to do it, but I guess it's not the worst either. In another year, I'll be over 60K and if I'm thinking of upgrading anyway, doing it a year from now vs. now probably doesn't make a huge difference especially if it's safer.
