We bought it mid June and have been out in it several times already. Planning to move in full time, June of 2016.Re: Switch to LED Tail Lights conceptumator wrote: Check one thing on the Ford, though - VERY important! The torque converter is unlocked by the power draw in the brake light circuit when you stop. LED lights don't draw enough power to make it unlock and it can burn up a transmission. Simple solution is to add one incandescent bulb somewhere in the circuit and wrap it in electrical tape to hide the glow. Well now isn't this interesting? Lately, I've noticed that when I turn on my blinker to change lanes at highway speeds, the torque converter unlocks. It's been bothering me for months as to why in the world this happens. I guess I now have my answer. Yes, I'm on a Ford F53 chassis. Who knew?!Re: Safari or MonacoGreat, now I'm jonesing over the BEAVERS!! Man, there are some very nice, older coaches out there. How in the world am I supposed to make a final decision? The Beavers, which are hard to find shorter than 40' (I really don't want to go 40!) have that HOLY SWEET PANEL above the driver with all those lights and switches... drool.Re: Safari or MonacoWell over the weekend (we're still searching for that right step up) the wife decided we could scratch the Safari off the list. She said they just don't blow her skirt up. So we've come to an agreement and a joint decision that we're going with the Monaco. Preferably the Crown Royale. They're the right length, they have the right amenities and they pretty much tick all the right boxes. They're not too terribly easy to find, but luckily, we don't have to hurry.Re: Safari or MonacoWell, I just found out the tires on that coach are probably nearing 10 years old. I was going to offer $16,500 on it but now that it will need about $3000 in tires, even though it has been garage kept, I think I'm going to have to pass on it. That's kind of heart breaking. It also has an LP generator which turns me off a bit. Sad.Re: Safari or MonacoA couple of days closer to the Monaco. I'm starting to really itch now. Seems the neighbors that live across the street from us are wanting to possibly buy the Dolphin from us which would be fantastic. I'd love for them to get the bug!Re: Safari or Monaco JohnQ wrote: I would also (STRONGLY) suggest going to either Yahoo Safari Motorhome website downloadable File section ( http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/SafariCoaches/files/ ) and go towards the bottom and down load the Used MH Checklist PDF. We used it when we shopped for motohomes. It is probably the BEST checklist I have ever saw/used. Excellent information. I've put my name on the list for approval. I appreciate that info!Re: Safari or Monaco Snowman9000 wrote: OK, lemon was the wrong term. Money pit is what I was trying to say. How much is a good inspection, and what should be the budget for unexpected things, for that age of DP? Well so far, all of the RVs I have owned, from popups to 5th wheels to motor coaches... they are all money pits! hahaha. Seems like I'm always spending money in one way or another. Luckily, I've been able to do 90% of the work myself. :)Re: Safari or Monaco Snowman9000 wrote: Both of the coaches you posted photos for, look great for the price range. I don't know anything about old DP's so I'd be pretty scared of buying a lemon. How much does a good inspection cost? How much should a person budget for unknowns after the sale in this type of coach and age? I'm not talking about tires, since that should be able to be known before purchase. The way I figure it, if its got 85,000 miles under its belt, it's most likely not a lemon. It's been used and loved and driven.Re: New headlinerLike this.
