All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Thoughts on the Triton V10 EngineI found a 2002 f250 with 52k on it and it was mint in and out and came with all of the mods needed for a TC. I went lite and got a Northstar 650. That truck will pull the pants off of superman but as others have said, it will not pass up a gas station. I like you use it for TC duty only but have the ability to use for other issues. You should have little or no problems if maintained properly. I also found a lot of usefull info on the f250 forums.Re: DIY Camper Repair - Exterior Shower Hose (Solved)Just replaced mine today. There was no shower assembly other than the exterior mount. Went to the homo depot and found a shower wand with hose that is attached to a spigot (tub) and is used to clean the shower walls. I cut off the spigot end and attached to a fitting that attached to the 't' fitting under the sink. Found in the plumbing dept. Works great for an out door shower and it was only 9.00Re: Another battery questionThanks for all of the quick and informative replies. Since my post this morning, I stopped by the Interstate dealer and was quoted a price of 340.00 for 2 6vs and 50.00 for the 21 inch battery tray plus core charge. One 12v deep cycle was 100.00. Seems I could buy 3 12vs for the same kind of money. I see someone posted a much lower price for cart batteries. I assume there is a difference between the 6v cart batteries and the Interstate ones? I am steering towards the dual 6vs but wow! the price. Am I missing something?Re: Startling insurance infoI am still a noob at this tc stuff and I only put this out there because from what I can determine, most trucks with hard side campers are on the verge of or are over weight without adding any cargo. I may be in error, but this is why I chose a tc650 pop up so the numbers would work. Also, I would not have to by 4 new E rated tires and possibly a rear sway bar.Startling insurance infoI went to the stickey for insurance info and asked all of the questions to my Farmers agent. I have split coverage on the slide in from the truck. I then asked if I was covered if my rig was involved in an accident and was over the gross manufactures weight maximum. I would be covered under the liability section for damages to mine or the other vehicle. However, it would be up to the insurance adjuster if my vehicle and camper would be covered because it was found to be over weight due to owner negligence with or without comp and collision. The agent was pretty adamant that I would not be covered due to my vehicle being over gross weight. It was then mentioned that I could be liable to a civil prosecution from the injured party due to my negligence. This is a confusing issue and each insurance company may have different stipulations based upon individual coverage. There is a reason why airplanes are not flown out of c of g and over gross weight. I only post this to bring to your attention the need to ensure that you will be covered under these circumstances. Hope this helps.Another battery questionThis topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27779369Another battery questionAfter a search on this forum and google, I am still a little lost on a battery alternative for my nortstar 650. It will be used 80% dry camping and I am considering solar as an add on. Is the idea of 2 6v in series or one 12v (wet cell or agm)the way to go and then, which brand? Has anyone with 2 6v ever had one fail? A good deep cycle wet cell with the associated maintenance would be where I am tending to go but would like other opinions as to some other advantage that I may be missing. ThanksRe: Power cable extensionThanks for all of the quick replies. I ordered a 7'one off amazon for 46.00 delivered.Power cable extensionGreetings, I just purchased a northstar 650sc and find that I need to extend the power cable to my hitch plug in because I don't want to put the connection in the bed. Any ideas? ThanksToliet/shower questionsI am looking at a northstar 650sc and would like opinions on the absence of a camode/shower unit. Too new to this tc stuff and still deciding between a pop up or hard side. I prefer to not stay at paid camp grounds, more remote stuff where an external shower might work or a sponge type cleaning will have to do on the cooler days/nights. Is anyone regretting not having these conveniences? Thanks.
