Co-pilot is a good stand alone. I believe the cost is $20 for lifetime. It downloads to your laptop/tablet/etc and does not use the internet except for updates.
Nothing to really worry about. Your best bet is to get behind a trucker in the middle lane once you to to the strip. Just stay behind them as they know which lane to stay in. I ain't bad.

Travel it at least once every 1-2 months. As others have stated, you won't win any speed races. Not a lot of traffic until you hit I15 at Baker, then the NASCAR races start. I am assuming you will be taking Hwy 58 to Bakersfield? Not a bad road, ...
