It's our first stop from Vermont to FloridaRe: 96 F-250 diesel, campers under 2300?I have a 97 F-250 with the diesel and have been hauling a 9.5ft camper since the truck was new. Camper weighs 2300 lbs. dry. Does your truck have the camper package with the auxiliary springs? If so, put on upper stableloads to keep the springs engaged and you will be good to go.Re: Repo a Truck Camper???I am sympathetic. Travel lite is junk. In addition to my 1993 Sunline truck camper, which has never been a problem, I purchased a new Travel lite trailer in 2017. Every time we use it something breaks. Two weeks ago the refrigerator fell out into the floor of the trailer. The one screw holding it in let loose.Re: Who is towing with a Chevy Colorado?I have been towing a small 18ft tt with a 2016 Colorado. No problem on trips up and down the east coast. Haven't tried western mountains but Vermont and Blue Ridge were fine.Re: Who’s still using a 7.3 diesel truckI have a 1997 7.3 Powerstroke with 5 speedstandard shift. Bought it brand new with the camper package specially for hauling my 9.5 ft. 1993 Sunline. Both are in excellent shape as they are garage kept when not traveling. Truck has 147,000 miles on it and has only been used for camping.Re: Hungry Horse, MT to Theodore Roosevelt NP, NDI drove that route 3 years ago. The speed limit on rt.2 outside of the towns was irrelevant as most were going around 80 mph or more.Re: Reg cab long bed vs extended cab long bed?I have had the same camper on a regular cab and an extended cab. Both trucks long bed F-250 with camper package. Extended cab was better on highway (wind, semi trailers) but the off road and turning radius better on regular cab.Re: Stop gap suspension adviceTorklift upper stableloads will engage the helper springs and take out that lean and bounce back. Best thing I ever added.Re: 2015 CaloradoI am towing a 19 ft. double axle trailer with a 2016 Colorado. Have been all over the East coast with three trips to Florida. No problems but you know it is back there. Average between 12 and 14 mpg. I put on a WD hitch, not because of the sag, but to take out some of the bounce on the Interstate bridges in SC and GA. As long as you don't have a 2017 0r 2018 Colorado with the **** transmission you will be good to go.
