All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Generator Usage in Parking Lots/Public StreetsSorry, it is a 2005 Sunseeker by Forest River 3100S with a Onan 4000 built in. By not that loud I mean no louder than any other built in i have heard before. May be loud for a library parking lot but not for a busy city street.Generator Usage in Parking Lots/Public StreetsI am new to RVing in my own RV and we will be going on our first big trip this summer. This is sort of a question about pets but I am generally wanting to know if anyone has run into issues with running their generator in Parking Lots (stores, museums, restaurants, etc) for their pets or a couple people who stayed behind. Are their laws in some places about this or general unsaid rules to follow. Our generator is not that loud and I will only use it when we have to but curious of any opinions on the subject. ThanksRe: Used C Buying Advice and did read FAQThank you for all of your good advice. We ended up financing with Excel Credit. We haven't finalized the loan completely but so far the process has been painless and their customer service has been great. We went and looked at El Monte and while you do get a pretty nice selection of models, the units are pretty beat up. There was no awning and the tires looked fairly old. All of the appliances and cabinets were on the well used side. While they did offer all of the service history, I asked about the age of the tires and the sales guy made a statement to the effect that they switch tires between units frequently so they have no way of providing that information. He also discredited my research online saying that there is a lot of miss information. During the test drive I could feel a lot more sway than what I have experienced in the past. We did like the layout which included two slide outs and the hallway to the back on the side and two entrances to the bathroom. All things in consideration we were not ready to sign up for it. Later that day a new listing for 2005 31" Sunseeker by Forest River showed up on Craigslist with only 40k miles. We went to take a look. Nice couple owned it and you can tell it was well taken care of. They had most of the service history including a recent resealing of the roof and windows. All appliances were in working order and it drove like a dream. If all goes as smooth as it had we should be driving our new/used RV away in another 10 days. Now I just need to learn how to use everything :?Re: Used C Buying Advice and did read FAQThank you all for your responses. I was actually planning on going to the Dublin location this weekend. I would rather not take a loan but I just don't have the liquid assets available to pay in full. We may look into getting a HELOC and paying of the auto loan to bring down rate. We may also be asking if some friends want to share in the purchase like a time share, but I think that is a different Thread conversation. If anyone else has some other good info please feel free to continue posting. I plan on bringing a good flashlight and some grubby clothes to get under, over and all through any RV I am looking into buying. I am no mechanic but have done enough self repair that I can hopefully find any major issues on my own.Used C Buying Advice and did read FAQI have been lurking around the forums for about two months now reading over all of the buying advice for used Cs and I am getting to the point where I am planning on driving around to look at different models. I have never owned but grew up traveling around in a '71 Commander with my parents and loved it. Unfortunately in North of San Francisco there are not a lot of close options for used RVs in my under 30k price point. My questions for all of you are: 1. Any recommendations on preferred lenders for RV loans? We should be able to put about 40% down in cash and have good credit. Our credit union only offers 10% interest on RV loans. 2. I am having a hard time know what brands are better than others. I obviously see a lot of common brands that I grew up hearing about but don't know some of them like Forest River. Any brands I should avoid completely. 3. I have seen somewhat positive information about purchasing a previous rental RV, more from El Monte than from Cruise America. I like the fact that they warranty the appliances for at least 30 days so we can make sure things work before going on a major trip. Any final pros and cons to this? Thanks again, I am excited to start this new venture and I am impressed with the community hear and look forward to being part of it.
