Cold engine always started right up with no need for heater blanket, etc. I do carry a small lithium power pack for emergency starts just in case when in remote areas and I keep the power pack inside the warm truck. These things works great that I have used to help other folks start their trucks in warm weather due to their old failed batteries and owners neglect and not the temps. Electric vehicles are facing issues including decline in performance, weaker battery life, increased charge times and even long lines. Many EV owners suffering buyers remorse and will buy a hybrid or full gasser next time. China continues building more polluting coal burning power plants to produce electricity for their EVs. Cybertruck has very poor towing range compared to same size gasser truck with a 6600 lb load. Tesla Cybertruck Tows a Tesla Model Y, Doesn't Go Very Far - autoevolution Re: New gas stations everywhere Severe cold weather now in much of the USA is a killer of EV vehicles. This just now from Chicago TV news. "Nothing. No juice. Still on zero percent," said Tyler Beard, who has been trying to recharge his Tesla at an Oak Brook Tesla supercharging station since Sunday afternoon. "And this is like three hours being out here after being out here three hours yesterday." Beard was among the dozens of Tesla owners trying desperately to power up their cars at the Tesla supercharging station in Oak Brook. It was a scene mirrored with long lines and abandoned cars at scores of other charging stations around the Chicago area. "This is crazy. It’s a disaster. Seriously," said Tesla owner Chalis Mizelle. Mizelle was forced to abandon her car and get a ride from a friend when it wouldn’t charge. Another man summed up the situation succinctly: "We got a bunch of dead robots out here." But it was no laughing matter to people like Kevin Sumrak, who landed at O’Hare Sunday night to find his Tesla dead. Sumlak was forced to hire a flatbed tow truck to try to find a working charging station". Re: New gas stations everywhere AAA automotive engineers found EV pickup trucks like the Ford 150 lightening have extreme poor range with a 1400 lb load in the bed. Range on one charge yields only 210 miles with a maximum no load range of 278 miles. This recent news and test published in Auto Guide. My 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 V8 4x4 with same or heavier load gives me a range of at least 360 miles on one tank of gas. So there it is but those F 150 are sure pretty to look at like the Rivian trucks. Cheers. My 2014 Ram Re: New gas stations everywhere I just read this also. Hertz says too high cost of maintenance and repair of their EV fleet and after selling 20,000 thousand of EVs will reinvest money in gas powered autos. Also 1/3 of high end Cadillac dealers will stop selling EV autos or shut down if forced to do so. The stubborn EV crowd will never admit to buyers remorse or they were wrong in supporting EV mandates on the rest of us. Cheers Re: New gas stations everywhere Just announced in Detroit free press that one half of ford dealers will not sell any full electric EV vehicles in 2024. Cheers. According to long time reputable car and driver magazine it is the three pickup gas trucks from GM, Ford and Ram along with the ICE gas Toyota Rav 4 and the Honda CRV autos that are top 5 with a Tesla being number 6 or 5. No one has said EVs are going away but that their numbers are increasing at a measured pace. Electric big truck drivers in California are spending more time charging and less time hauling freight and their heavier electric trucks carry less freight than ICE trucks thus driving up the cost to the consumer. This will not last nation wide as some businesses have discontinued using commercial EV trucks and some cities discontinued using EV busses. The only thing I dislike about EVs is the arrogant snobbish attitude of many owners who want to force this EV c onto the rest of us. Not going to happen by 2030 or 35 for sure. https://www.caranddriver.com/honda/cr-v Re: New gas stations everywhere Well Mr. many business news and auto news (recent) articles speak for themselves for those that can read plain English. 1/3 of cadillace dealers will not accept EVs or they will shut down if forced to. Evidently EV folks don't ever read auto news, Bloomberg, WSJ, Barrons, etc., etc. Shoot the messenger never changes anything sport. I could care less about convincing anyone but there are two sides to every issue. Most EV owners have a reliable ICE vehicle for important functions such as long distance trips but never admit it on social forums. Hypocrites. The 3 major auto makers have drastically scaled back EV truck production due to lack of consumer demand. Just the news. Trying to force high priced EVs down the throats of consumers with mandates is not working I am happy to say. Many millions of Americans live in condos and apartments without charging stations so no home charging for the poor souls. Re: Military Campgrounds I have the actual military ID card for a 100% P&T disabled vet now for many years and of course use all the on post shopping, recreation, transient quarters, library, gym, etc and RV parks. I have read elsewhere that vets with only the VA medical ID card must stop at the information office at main gate to obtain an on base pass each time they visit so they should take time to go to a military base DEERS office with proper paperwork and get the actual military ID card as I did. I simply drive thru the gate like active military with only a brief ID check by the APs or MPs. They of course need the VA letter stating they are 100% P&T to get the ID. Just saying.
