Good morning everyone, not sure where our travels will all take us this year yet; possibly a quick Wisconsin trip in mid April; and a definite trip with the Monaco America Group to the America's Best Camp Ground in Branson, Missouri May 3 to 10. Donna, Midnite and I will be traveling in our 2008 Monaco Camelot pulling our 2019 Ram Laramie. Re: Introduce Yourself! Good morning Mike, yes sir - Vietnam Veteran Marine, 30+ year Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officer - retiring as Chief, and 6 year Texas State Investigator before retiring almost for good. Our eldest son is a 30 year Marine retiring as Sgt Major, now a Cass County MO Deputy Sheriff. Not sure where my travels will take me this year but I am pretty sure at least one location will be Arizona. Take care - God be with, bless and protect you and your wife Bonnie during your travels. Re: Introduce Yourself! Good morning and congratulations on your new RV purchase from I am assuming an Oregon RV Dealer. I am going to "assume" because of that distance it is a Class A; which is a little more comfortable to try to travel longer distances each day; but depending on parts of country can be more difficult to find RV parks it fits in for the night (however, if I have been pressed for time, I have taken advantage of sleeping in truck stops or waysides to keep moving having all my needs right on board while traveling) Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, richardyood's advice that ten days may be a little tight may be pretty accurate. When we were younger that would not have been a problem at all; today if I wanted to fly from one coast to the other, inspect and close on the RV, supply and equip it, do some site-seeing and comfortably drive back across country, ten days might be a little tight - but I could do it - because I know how to "safely" and "properly" travel making use of truck stops and waysides on the days I am just traveling to save time. Best wishes, God be with, bless and protect you with your purchase and your trip. Re: Introduce Yourself! Semper Fi and have a very safe and enjoyable trip John. Sounds like you and your girl are making the most out of life and your retirement; God be with, bless and keep you safe. Sounds like you have a very nice rig and set up, and have a nice trip planned. As I am just getting started back into this after taking a couple year break after my wife passed, I think I'll pass on trying Alaska for starters. Best wishes. Re: Introduce Yourself! Kathy, congratulations on yours and your husband's upcoming retirements; I pray you both enjoy very long, happy, exciting, healthy retirements together, experiencing this beautiful, amazing country we have, whether that be full time, or just as often as you two decide to experience it in your leisure time. My late wife and I never did the full time RV route, but we experienced and saw so much of our beautiful country throughout wonderful loving 48 years together before she was called home 9 days before our 48th anniversary. I sold that motorhome because it just wasn't the same after she and her favorite lab were called home, but I have recently purchased another one and my girlfriend and dog and I are going to experience our country again. Re: Tow Vehicle w/ Best Back Seat for Passengers - Ram Mega Cab? My youngest son owned one of these and he pulled a 48 foot fifth wheel with no problem Re: Tow Vehicle w/ Best Back Seat for Passengers - Ram Mega Cab? I don't own the Ram 3500 SRW CTD Mega Cab; but I do own a 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Laramie 4door Cab and there is so much leg, hip and head room in both the front and rear seats with reclining rear seats - you are comfortable no matter where you ride. Re: Introduce Yourself! Welcome to the RV world; my late wife and I started with our sons somewhere around 1977 with a pop-up RV and then moved up to our first class A motorhome in 2005 with no slides, upgrading to our second class A motorhome with three slides and six feet longer in 2006; I sold it two years after she passed because it just didn't feel right without her; but I am stepping back into it with another class A motorhome now. Re: Introduce Yourself! Lance, three very good brands are Porter-Cable, Dewald or Ridgid; but I would make sure no matter which brand you purchase that you purchase one that will do at least 150 PSI; first to make sure it will meet all your needs; and second to make sure you are purchasing a quality product that will hold sufficient air pressure in the tank while meeting your needs without having to overwork the compressor. These are not very expensive and do not cost much more than the cheap junk that you buy from the discount stores. Re: Introduce Yourself! Just a friendly word, if it is only going to be you or you and your dog, a class C may be a better choice. Those big class A's are nice and they are great to settle down in and relax and kick back in if you are going to stay in some places for a while, because they are bigger than some apartments. BUT if you are wanting to travel around and see places and stop in the small towns around our country; trying to find parking and accommodations for the larger rigs can sometimes be tough. There were times my late wife and I had to just forget about and pass on by some small-town sites we wanted to see, especially when we had our car in tow. And if you tow flat down with a tow bar, you can't back up without doing damage to the tow bar and equipment; (and it is easier to make the mistakes with the bigger units) and without the second person to move one of the vehicles if you have to disconnect, it creates additional issues. Thats why even though I have never done it before, and most of the time I will have my girlfriend with me with this new class A, I am going to reluctantly tow with a trailer
