I have a 2019 AF 990 and a couple of years ago replaced my original lead/acid group 29 battery’s with some 280ahr LifePo4 cells giving me 560ahrs total. I was able to fit in a 200a BMS as well as (2) 150a rated terminal blocks for all my branch wiring. I was also able to install a 1/4” foam box completely around the battery’s as well as having a top cover to provide thermal protection from the elements. I even placed a temp sensor inside the battery’s compartment as well to a display that I can monitor the actual temp inside and last but not least cut in a small vent cover to allow heat and a small circ fan to circulate ambient warmer cabin air into the battery’s as well box if needed. Never have needed it and have camped in snow conditions a few times. Re: Under Dinette Air Conditioning in a Truck Camper? You mean by fixing a hole in the roof with 2 seperate layers of double backed tape on the back of a flexible solar panel on top? Covering the opening with a rooftop vent isn't an option here as he has the panel on top which I think was part of the reason for clearing up open space on his roof. C-mon. Re: Under Dinette Air Conditioning in a Truck Camper? 560ahrs is what I built too with the cells. Good enough storage capacity for me and runs the inverter for the micro and coffee machine when we use it. I would think having an exposed hole in your roof might be a weak point as far as insulating the inside of the cabin. I think you should have layers some fiberglass over that hole and added any insulating material if there is any in your roof to make it 100%. A flexible solar panel is probably not your best patching material. Plus now you have an exposed “hole” inside the cabin that you see all the time. Lord knows I have done a few mods to my rig and I always try to make it better than the original condition. Just a thought. Quick question, Why the DC Air Conditioner inside? Are you converting all appliances to electric? Re: Under Dinette Air Conditioning in a Truck Camper? Rob good job on the AC. What are you going to do with the existing hole through the roof where the original unit was? I see you upgraded to 760ahrs of battery capacity. Did you build your own like I did with the LifePo4 cells? Im sure you added an inverter in there somewhere for that coffee maker in the AM, what size did you go with? Max ahr storage capacity is paramount when running off grid. Good job kid mike Re: 12v DC Air Conditioning Conversion Progress Hey Rob looks like your busy or have been. Haven’t been on this site for awhile but wanted to make a few suggestions for ya. Take Jim’s advice and go with a mppt controller for your solar. I finally got around to swapping out the Zamp units that came with my camper when I got it back in 18’ and I get approx 30% more daily generation as compared to before. I also added another 390w of solar on the roof giving me a total of 925w. If I can fit that much on top of my rig WITH an A/C unit up there your’s will be a piece of cake. Doesn't make sense to have a ton of solar if you can’t store it all. Get some 314ahr EVE LifePo4 cells and build yourself (2) 12v battery’s giving you a capacity of 628ahrs total. Real easy to do. Battery’s, BMS, 3k Inverter for less than 2k and your saving weight on the battery’s also. Give me a jingle and I can walk you through everything. Hope your doing well. Mike Re: Any Hope for This New GS Truck Camper Group? I went to my setting as suggested and changed the format more for my liking. Kinda odd as the "default" listed replies was different than any other website I had seen previously. Now I need to check in my own settings if I can figure out a way to have the post's I event read yet be highlighted in some way as to be able to follow along a thread and just read the latest replies I haven't seen yet. This site doesn't get alot of postings as far as truck camper's are concerned, but it's the same for most other sites as well that I peruse through. Thanks to the other members who helped guide me to understand the changes I could make for my viewing and not torch me to ruins for not liking or agreeing to the default settings. Maybe someone will post up a topic that we can all contribute to that's a benefit to us folks that do have campers. Thanks again all. Re: Any Hope for This New GS Truck Camper Group? The original first posting that comes up for me is dated 12-03-23 6:59am. The very next reply is the LAST one in the thread dated 12-06-23 6:17pm. Which means I have to scroll all the way to the bottom and follow the topic upward, Exactly opposite in chronological order as far as I can tell. Any other site I participate in is much more user friendly, this is just my opinion, but that's what matters to me personally so ya got that. Re: Any Hope for This New GS Truck Camper Group? This new website sucks. sorry to say. Latest post firsts lame it should be first post first so you can see the direction of the thread. I definitly won't be a regular poster here or occasional for that matter. I'll be at the rally in Redding and such so hopefully Adamis will keep me updated on email. Lame just lame.
