All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Simple RVing recipesMy favorite method so far is to use meal plannner and prep almost as if I'm freezer cooking. So, one ziplock might be the seasoning/marinade and meats. Another might be rice with dried veggies*. Sometimes I'll use a third larger one to hold it all together with a little note inside to add 4c water and fresh ingredients. Our very favorite is a one-pot Paella "fake" (without seared/crunchy rice you get from a traditional cooking method). I buy a packet of yellow saffron rice. In a separate ziplock bag, I store the seasonings and dried peas. I then cook the chicken in the broth to a safe temperature, add the rice/seasonings/peas/sausage and simmer. It takes 30-45 depending on your meats and if any are frozen. We also do a Mexican one-pot with quinoa, beef with noodles, lemon chicken, creamy bacon shredded chicken "casserole," ham & cheese with mustard sauce, chicken/sausage jambalaya, smothered (boneless) pork chops, and Turkish shortribsRe: Travel appsI use Campendium and RVParkReviews to find places to go, and Travel planner for route planning. I also use FlattestRoute to check grades on different routes if I'm going through mountains, or think there might be issues. If I'm going off of a major highway I'll check the AllStays app or run the route through the CoPilot app for low bridge clearances.Re: Bacon on the ThighsI have a similar recipe in digital planner,do this with breasts and cream cheese. I saute some chopped jalapenos or maybe poblanos if I'm feeling mild. Mix that with some cream cheese and cheddar. Flatten out the chicken breast and salt/pepper or whatever seasoning you want on both sides, spread the cream cheese mixture and roll it up. Wrap with bacon. They're freaking delicious even coldRe: Texas FireballsMy family makes this every year too! Our recipe is very similar, the only difference is we double the sausage and do one hot, one mild or sage. Great recipe to share https://onplanners.com/templates/free-weekly-planner-templatesRe: Baked Mac and Cheese w/Green Chiles and BaconThis is one of our go-tos. My favorite is Southern style Mac N Cheese by Chef Millie Peartree from recipe book For camping, I bring the ingredients pre-measured, the milk in a jar with all the seasonings, the butter and cheese in a tupperware, and the flour in a ziplock.Re: Dutch Oven Sweet Biscuits (Scones)I wish this was one of those things where I walked into the attic of my grandmother’s farm house, brushed away the cobwebs with flashlight in hand searching for old family relics. There I uncovered an old cedar chest with half a century of dust weighing the lid down, I open the chest to see the glow of an old cook book with amazing recipes that have been kept safe from wars, depressions, floods and famine, the inscription on the inside of the book a handwritten note in Latin, one of those words with a bunch of U’s thrown in. I turn the page and boom, “great great great great Aunt Eunice’s sourdough biscuits”. But, alas. https://onplanners.com/templates/free-weekly-planner-templatesRe: New generator for new rv. RecommendationsWe love our quiet and fuel efficient Honda generator! We also usually take our old, heavy backup along with us too, just in case we should need it for something since we have small children - which was nothing special from Harbor Freight. https://printsbery.com/planner-templates/calendarRe: Boondocking EtiquetteYes, you can leave your rig for the day. It isn’t considered a dick move unless you leave it all week and come back only on weekends. My websiteRe: Who?My father did this and I tried it a few times, it's not bad if you like ketchup. I never made a habit of it, though. And it really only works with Kraft Mac and Cheese or the like. I prefer hot sauce. Works with eggs, too. carpet sweeperRe: Outside ShowerWe had one on our first motorhome (owned for 5+ years) and never used it. It was just an extra spigot to empty out and winterize at the end of every season. I think it's one of those features that some manufacturer thought to add as a "new and innovative" design at some point (late 80's or early 90's maybe?) and other RV makers grabbed onto the idea because it was cheap to install during the building process... despite the fact that it was probably never used much by customers. Especially when it was a new concept, full hookups were a lot more rare and I can't imagine many people would waste a lot of fresh water by spraying it onto the ground. Best carpet sweeper
