Best way to do think this through, is to not go over whatever the lowest load capacity is, in your case on one wheel your max load is 3200#. So If you are at 3100 on one side (wheel) then you are still under max load capacity. Now as for the axle, yes that is a combination of both wheel/tires even though their capacity is now over 6000#, you are limited to 6000# axle rating. So once again the lowest capacity rules. I don't think you will find anything that states official figures on this, but will state not to go over load capacity. Hope this helps. Clear as mud? DonRe: Even the "good" manufacturers Mess upOn the other side of the coin, I have a GD with 6K axles and the sticker says 5080 axles. Yep, I went under and looked to see what was on mine. So, they gave me the wrong axles, I ain't complaining. Bragging, YES!!Re: Help unhitching! bpounds wrote: lpxguy wrote: hmmm my B&W will release even with pressure on it...guess it's a design thing. Chris So what's the BIG deal with no rear cap? I own a Grand Design Reflection and I have no heartache with the construction. I did own a Sunnybrook previous to the Reflection, it had both a front and rear cap, made no difference to me what it had. It was the trailer I wanted at the time, so I bought it. Same goes for the Reflection, it was what I wanted, so I bought it. JMHO of course. DonRe: Purchasing a 5th wheel? Watch video about Grand Design RVThe Reflection line is middle range price. Solitude is higher end. Momentum is toy hauler.Re: Stay away from BFG Commercial T/A Tires Many have put these Transforce by Firestone tires on their trailers. I am considering these as well. Can you please explain why not? Thanks Sorry for duplicate post, computer froze.Re: Stay away from BFG Commercial T/A TiresNot worth much. The OP is talking about LT tire use on a trailer. Trailer service is much more sever than truck service. I love my TransForce tires on my TV, but I would never use them on the trailer. I think that the results would be very different between the two applications. MM49 Many have put these Transforce by Firestone tires on their trailers. I am considering these as well. I am about to buy new tires for my 5th wheel and they are in the running. Thanks,Re: what are they thinking - Grand DesignI have a new Reflection 303RLS from Grand Design. The tires that came on mine are E rated, sidewall states max pressure 80PSI, Max Load at 80PSi 2830, Not 2540 as stated by OP. Don't think they put wrong tires on trailer, but just in case, I would take a second look at them. I have looked at mine so many times, someone would think I have a love affair with them. Since we cook and live in our fiver we like decent counter space. Don't see this, as there is counter space next to cookstove, counter space either side of the sink island, and whole wall length counter space at the front hutch. More counter space than my current trailer has, at least double the amount. Maybe because we cook outside as much as we can, we just don't see the issue you do. I have a rather large kitchen counter space in my residental home, and I never have enough counter space when I cook. :)
