We purchased a 2016 Jayco Eagle 284BHBE this spring thinking we would be bringing a couple kids/grandkids every trip, doesn't look like that is happening so we are wanting to downsize to around 25' range also but want quality. I feel like it is hard to find a "quality trailer" in the shorter range (at least with bunks which is what we need as a family of four). I feel like once you go smaller you have to enter into a lightweight category which seems like some of the quality goes down with that or you get really small tanks which is why I like the Open Range.Re: Open Range or Lance hohenwald48 wrote: We have had a 2015 216RBS for a little over a year. Probably spent around 100 nights in it and towed it over 10,000 miles. Only problem has been a broken leaf spring that Lippert took care of at our RV site while we were on the road. I have had to adjust the slide cables once and I modified the plumbing so both gray tanks are connected together. I just didn't like having separate bath and kitchen gray tanks and didn't like the requirement to connect two drain hoses while at a park. It's never been back to the dealer for any kind of work because it's never had a problem that needed repairing. We traded in a 2015 Jayco we had for 2 months that just wasn't working out. And I have posted and not really had much response so I thought I would try here to see. I feel like sometimes on the owners forums you hear all the bad things and surely there are good things to hear too :)Open Range or LanceWe are debating between two travel trailers. We are wanting to downsize from our 33' travel trailer to something below 30' and closer to the 25' range. The two trailers we have narrowed it down to is the Open Range Light 221RQB and the Lance 2185. Just looking for some feedback on these brands and your good and bad experiences. Thanks!Re: Changing Out TrucksThanks this gives us something to think about.Re: Changing Out TrucksThanks for all the input! I was hoping for a little ammunition to get a 1500 but I don't think I have it. I had a feeling this was the response I would get-looks like my hubby is going to get the truck he wants :) We would like to get a used vehicle but was having a hard time finding a used 2500 without a ton of miles or it was relatively new and not much savings off a new truck. We can use our work trucks but would like to be able to use our own personal vehicle instead.Changing Out TrucksHey All! We have a construction company so we have a variety of vehicles-all Chevy 2500 Diesels-various years ranging from 2009-2014. We also have a Dodge Ram 3500. They are all extended cab trucks. We are able to use any of these to tow our trailer if we want. My husband's personal vehicle is a 2005 Chevy 2500 Diesel, it is getting up there in mileage and we are wanting to upgrade to a crew cab to better fit our growing family (4yo, 1yo and a 70 lb golden). I would like to just get a half ton pickup though. We are looking at a Open Range Light LT221RQB. Do you think we could tow this with a late model half ton? SPECS: UVW-6535 lbs Hitch- 870lbs CArgo: 3135 lbs GVWR: 9670 lbs I really don't think we would ever load this with 3135 lbs of cargo though-that's a lot of stuff and this is a smaller sized trailer. However, I know in the bed of our truck we would want to have our bikes in there so that would add to the payload. I did look up a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Short bed and with the right axle ratio and tow package it says tow rating is 11,800lbs. Thoughts? TanyaRe: Open Range LightHmmm I would hope that if the 2014 slides were having gearbox problems that they would fixed the issue by now-we are looking at 2017 models currently. But is is good to know and something to ask the manufacturer about.Re: Open Range Light Us out West wrote: Open Range now called Highland Ridge RV after Jayco purchased them. Read more... Not sure what year Open Range you are looking at since the new company was formed in 2014. Yes, I did know that but thank you for sharing. I think our model is called Open Range Light-at least that is what I have seen at a few different dealers. We are looking at a 2017.Re: 5th Wheel to Gooseneck AdaptersOKay so we are looking at an Open Range Light and it actually comes with a King Combo Pin Box and it says it allows for the use of a Gooseneck Adapter without voiding warranty. Thoughts on that??Open Range LightWe are super close to purchasing an Open Range Light 295FBH. I am looking for feedback on this company. I feel like there isn't much out there on this manufacturer. We are also considering a keystone hideout 308bhds but right now the Light is our top pick. Thanks!!
