With the airline prices at the moment $1137 to LA we are thinking about another trip & where to fit it in between our Europe trip of 3 months , 2 months in RV travel . Cheers Tom in OzRe: Best route from Grand Junction, CO to Cortez, CO?Being a Ozzy visitor from down under & having driven 550 in both directions about 6 times IMHO this is quite a good mountain road not only for driving but also awesome scenery & history .Well worth the drive & excitement when seeing something new , there are pull off's in quite a few places in both directions which cater for vista's or letting your vehicle have a bit of a rest . I have driven worst main roads in mountain areas in Oz & Europe . Cheers Tom in OzRe: 2 Ozzy tourists on the looseActually not a 1 hit wonder at all. I do shift work & was waiting to see what other answers may be forth coming before replying. We will be back in LA from the cruise on 21 March 2014 , From what I have read so far this may still be too early to enjoy good weather for sightseeing around the Rockies . The Head of Finances is now looking at other idea's ,maybe a trip up the coast to the Canadian border then back down the west side of the Rockies checking out the wineries etc . We have never heard of the movie "Paul ", it may have another name in Oz. Red ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz ,well the Financial director has a few pairs of them so I don't think we need any more at the present time. Cheers , Tom in Oz.2 Ozzy tourists on the looseWe are 2 60ish Ozzy tourists who are doing a Panama canal cruise in March next year 2014, we have another 3 weeks of unplanned touring round the central & western areas of USA. We are looking at departure from LA after the cruise ends & driving to Las Vegas & see a few shows & include a trip up to Area 51 , then across to Denver & up to Mt Rushmore then across to the west coast & back down the coast to LA before heading back to Oz . We are confident RVers having done the east coast about 10 years ago & 4 trips in Europe . We own a F250/2006 model with a crewcab & a slide in pop top on the back all set up for outback Australia. We are curious if what we have planned for 3 weeks is too ambitious or is quite achievable for a couple to manage . We are still deciding on how to do the trip , RV or car & motel. All replies gratefully received . Tom In Oz.
