The owner is this old guy with enough money to replace 10 of those trucks with new ones but is so freaking tight he won't do it!! He is having the frame welded back together! This mechanic friend is a fabricator and is building a frame stronger that the original!!Re: Power convertor? Is the converter running all the time? Is it "whistling"? We had this issue once and I thought it was the battery. When I checked the battery it had boiled over and two cells were fried dry. So, I got a new inverter and a new battery. The inverter had blown the top on two capacitors too. That's been two years ago and I just had to replace that battery. This time I went with a lot bigger amp battery.Re: Langing Gear IssueThat switch cost me $7.96 at a local rv repair shop. Mine quit in the down mode only. Easy to replace too.Re: Commute too short for diesel? Our last truck was a 2009 Chevy Duramax/Alison 4x4 crew cab long bed dually. It's total daily commute was approximately 6 miles per day, with less than 15 minute of run time. I also thought about this may times wondering about what that was going to destroy over time. Well, 6 years later, 168,000 miles, 46 of the 48 continental U.S. States traveled, and that little 10-15 minute trip every freaking day it was home, we had absolutely ZERO problems!! We also had one winter with temperatures in the negative 20's for several weeks. We didn't even use the block heater either, it was too much trouble. Don't worry about it.Re: Tire PressureRun max pressure!!Re: Keeping 5th Wheel Hitched? We've traveled many weeks with ours never unhooked. Last year we traveled for almost three weeks and the truck and trailer were unhooked for a few hours one day. Lots of times when we travel we will not stay anywhere longer than one day at any one place.Re: Truck for 5th wheelWe've gone to 4x4 crew cab long box trucks. The first was an '06 gasser and traded it for an '09 dually. We just traded that for the SRW one ton with the crew cab long box and love it!!!! The last short bed was a 1/2 ton extended cab back in 2004 and we'll never do that again!!Re: I did it!Bigger truck means bigger toys!!!!!Re: First trip with 2015 Ram 2500 6.7L "UPDATE"We got a new 2015 Chevy with the exhaust brake too. Our 2009 we traded didn't have that option, just the tow/haul mode in the tranny. I thought that was cool but the first trip out with the new truck was incredible!! You gotta love the technology!! Tow/haul mode plus engine brake equals great big grin on face!!Re: How do you secure your bikes while camping? When parked I lock them to the landing leg with a plastic coated cable. We just put them in the garage if we have room or just put them in the kitchen when moving. Only issue we had with hauling them inside was we had one lean against the stove once and turned the stove top burners on!!! Yup, it sure filled the camper with gas!! After 2 days with all the windows and doors open it was safe to enter!!!
