Have had no problem and tow many miles, down to Arizona in winter and around Canada summer. Road Riders are from China but are recommended over even the new made in USA goodyear. Go to fountain Tire, they handle them. They come in your size in Load Range D or E. I just put on 4 E range, $119.00 Canadian each. D range good for approx. 2500 lbs each and E for 2800 each so D would work for you. Talk to Fountain Tire they sell lots and recommend them.Re: Air Pin Box: Which one to get???Also have Reese 5th airborne and we love it.Re: 5th wheel for TundraDo not go by your payload sticker. Go weigh truck with full fuel and all that will be in it when towing. I speak from experience. As a retired Toyota tech I wanted to tow with a Tundra so bought a regular cab long box which had a payload sticker of 1849 lbs. Thinking i would be fine we purchased a 30 ft Cougar 285 with advertised dry hitch weight of 1040 lbs. Found we were when loaded up 300 to 400 lbs over trucks 7200 GVWR. When i weighted truck alone with hitch in found actually had only 1200 lbs payload left as truck weighted 6000 lbs. So what i am saying is you will find truck heavier than you think. Now as to how it handled the 10000 lbs 5th wheel it had no problem at all. Only added Timbrens. Pulled through British Columbia rocky mountains and from Alberta to Arizona 2 winters. Now pull same 5th with a Ford F250 and no difference i can detect in handling or braking etc. We went with the Ford as we travel in summer in British Columbia and they enforce rv weights using the GVWR and if over you not only fined but have to have trailer towed and i did not want to take the chance. So Tundra excellent tow vehicle but you will find practically no 5th wheel of any size you can tow and not exceed trucks GVWR. Happy hunting and camping.Re: A differential questionMake sure the rear differential breather is not plugged, if it is pressure will build up and force fluid past a seal.Re: 5th wheel real world number requestWe also tow a 30ft 5th wheel that is just over 10000 lbs loaded. We tow with a 2011 F250 6.2 gas with 4.30 axle. No problem at all, tow back and forth each year to Arizona from Canada and in summer all through mountains in Canada. It is not like a diesel but I never feel it struggles or need excessive rpm with that load. Very happy. Enjoy!Re: Any one towing with a F250 6.2 Gasser?Towing 10000 pound (scaled) 30 ft mid profile 5th wheel. Tow from Alberta, Canada to Arizona every winter and all through Canadian rocky mountains in summer. 2011 F250 6.2 4.30 axle has no problem towing that.Re: New truck engine infoPulling 10000 pound 30ft 5th wheel with 2011 F250 6.2 with 4.30 gears, no issues at all. We are snowbirds from Canada so pull lots of miles going to California and Arizona each winter as well as through the Canadian Rocky mountains in summer. Not a diesel but gets job done without fuss.Re: Trip suggestions Ajo Az. and beyond.Coyote Howls campground at Why, AZ is good, never full, cheap and uncrowded, water and dump onsite.Re: Any drivetrain gurus out there?Agree with above post. We pull 10000 pounds with 6.2 and 4.30 axle. I seldom use drive and tow haul in hilly terrain. Put it in M and control shifts yourself. I anticipate the hill, shift down before it starts to struggle and then use a gear that keeps RPM at about 3500 to 4000 RPM and 45 to 50 MPH using only moderate throttle. I never put my foot to floor and am not worried if I lose speed on hills. If that so concerned me I would have a diesel, so what if I get to top of hill a minute later than a diesel would. The 6.2 pulls hard in the mid range and I have seldom felt the need to run it much beyond 4000, but if you do it will really pull hard, but why flog it, its not a sin to slow down a bit on a hill!Re: toyata tundraAgree with all above posts. I worked my last 22 years for Toyota. We sold many Tundras for use as oil and gas field service trucks. Their only downfall is the low payload ratings, however they ran for years overloaded in rough use and I never saw a failure due to that. Rear axle assy is very robust, much more so than most half tons. Many put extra spring leaf or air bags on. So for a light trailer no problem. Personally we towed 2 different 10000 lb 30 ft 5th wheels with our 2011 Tundra, as we are snowbirds and had no issues. Now have F250 but only because I was uncomfortable being not legal on truck GVWR. Fuel mileage towing same 5th is similar to Tundra, however Tundra driven same way unloaded as I drive the F250 (gas 6.2) would get 3 mpg (imperial) better on highway. Enjoy your Tundra, if they had the payload I need would still be driving one.
