Why? normal_dave wrote: Ok, so this is a different direction, but if it's two of you, you want windows, and great build quality, consider this: A Lazy Daze custom built class C. They look old school, but extremely well built, far and away above anything else class c or otherwise. Aircraft aluminum shell, riveted panels, top of the line build and appliances, legendary reliability of the Ford V10 E-450 chassis. I'm a trailer fan, but for the money, take a serious look at this compared to what you would get for similar money in a trailer. It'll be gone soon. 2001 Lazy Daze 26.5 Factory: LazyDaze factory Another ad with better pictures: 2001 LazyDaze 26.5 mid bath, OK Great, now I wasted an hour looking on Craigslist...LOLRe: Trailer ToadIt makes the trailer and tow Vehicle more stabile. It effectively makes the wheel base longer on the towing vehicle, so it is not affected by cross winds as much. I think some of the comments here are based on ignorance. Not only is it more stabile, it preserves the trucks full payload capacity for cargo. Only criticism of this particular design I see is the missed the opportunity to add an extra set of braking wheels, which would have shorten stopping distance. I never towed this exact set up, but I have towed a wagon. Anyone who has towed a wagon , will tell it is a much easier tow, and better ride. The only disadvantage is backing up.Re: Trailer ToadI always thought these were a good idea. I think Hitch Hog is another brand. Does the wheels on the Toad have breaks? if so I can see a big advantage in stopping.Re: RV Service Centers... and CaulkingHas anyone tried polyurethane caulk? seems tough as nails and sticks well. Just wonder why it not being used, only down side I see is it cost a little more and almost impossible to remove. The few places I have used around the house it is still flexible and intact even using it to fill large gaps.Re: Running trailer from tow vehicle inverterMost owners manuals warn of extended idling. Small engines are made to be able to idle or run a steady RPM. Most Truck motors are not made to idle, even the newer diesel trucks have warning about idling. The catalytic convertor will not reach it operating temperature, causing it to clog. The combustion will not be as efficient, leading to dirty valves, carbon build up in the combustion chambers. Plus someone can steal your truck. Not to mention it is illegal in some states. I'm guessing if you did once or twice a year you might get away with it, but I would not idle any truck I cared about for long periods. Just my .02Re: 15K BTU A/C and GeneratorsA hard start capacitor is a big help. a 3k gen will run a an 15K BTU Ac, but will have a hard time starting the compressor. A hard start capacitor will allow it to start it easy. Even if you went with dual 2000 , I would go with a hard start as will allow you to keep the gen in eco mode. Look at the Supco SPP6. it is under 15 bucks, and there are some videos on youtube reviewing it.Re: BEFORE YOU BUY A TRAVEL TRAILER WATCH THISI don't under stand how they can build a Cargo Trailer for cheap, and they are of good quality compared to a cheap RV. My next RV will be a converted cargo trailer. I have seen some pretty nice ones on youtube. I subscribe to the youtube channel for the video that was posted, so I watched it when it came out. I don't think I would ever buy a RV with a rubber roof, or stick built with aluminum siding.Re: What's this camper??I find it interesting that he has no inside pictures of the front slide. I see a lot of 1 to 3 year old ,16-19 ft trailers for under 10K in my area. If I was spending $6000on a trailer of that size and age, it would have to be perfect or an Airstream.
