I guess for now, I will use a little solar to just top off my Batteries and use my Generator when I really need to run the big stuff, AC, water Heater, furnace... Thanks again....Re: Understanding SolarOkay thank you 2oldman!! will check it out.. Saw that in my Escapees Magazine.Understanding SolarOkay, will target those with 5th wheels and using solar to help with off Grid camping. I have looked at the Renogy Portable suit case and that is a 100 watt system. I was thinking of getting 200 watts and was wondering how that would work for us. I don't know how much of a solar system is needed to be able to run one AC unit, or maybe you can't run an AC unit at all.? Or just normal electrical stuff in your RV. I Don't want to spend a couple Grand to get just a little help with solar, and just to let you know, we would have a 5.5KW LP Generator. I just don't want to run the Generator as much, if I can use my Solar. Please explain as simple as you can on what type of solar system to get. I don't want to just jump into some big solar panels to mount on top of the 5er, and spend that kind of money. That is why I am saying I would like to take small steps and try it out with a 100 or 200watt Renogy Portable suit case to help us out on Charging up our Batteries and or 5er. I understand very little of what it does for energy and using electrical stuff in the RV. Also I heard you should get solar batteries instead of regular Deep cycle batteries??? Do most 5ers come with 1 or 2 Batteries. Do you think it is a good idea to get an extra battery if you have the space. Not to sure what space I will have when getting the Generator put in. Again this is a 2016 5th Wheel we are going to get. Thank you for any Info on this topic and I do hope someone out there will be able to help me understand solar a little better than I do now. I soon to be, Happy Camper and Boondocker... Mark and Jodi...Re: Don't know what to do?I will need to look at what you wrote. I will need to do my homework. I am leaning more towards the 350 Dully.... Thanks for the info.Re: Don't know what to do?Thanks therink,I am not sure what that means if the pin weight is like 3200, what should i be concerned with about pin weight. when i look for a truck, it will tell me the total Fifth wheel weight it can tow. I found a truck that says 16,300 towing capacity. so is the pin weight 3260?Re: Don't know what to do?I also need to understand what is meant by GVWR. The 5th Wheels I see have like a dry weight of 11,720, a GVWR of 14,000, and a Hitch weight of 2,010. What do all of these mean? I can understand cargo weight is added stuff, like your belongings underneath like storage stuff, your pots and Pans, dishes, washer and Dryer, all the stuff you bring into the RV. What about gray water, fresh water and Black?? Are those added in the cargo or are they extra on top of the cargo? On a lot of the specs of 5th Wheels they have like 3772 cargo weight. Does that include the tanks?Re: Don't know what to do?As for staying friends, I will never really see him again, the friendship really does not matter, all I want to know is if I would be making a mistake buying a F250 his, or any other person or place, or go with F350 bigger motor then what he has..Don't know what to do?I am debating to use a F250 or a F350 truck for my 5th wheel that we will be buying soon. I need help on figuring if the weight will be good for ether one. I have the weight of the 5th wheel but there is a difference in what each kind of f250 and f350 with size of engine and size of cab, and bed. I have looked at the towing guide for the F series and still not sure what to do. Who can give me the best advice? I have a friend that really wants for me to buy his F250, and I am not sure if it would handle the weight of my 5th wheel. Again what can I do. The truck is 2010 SD F250 4x4 6.4L V-8 Diesel 5speed Automatic 3.55 ratio. I looked up the Fifth wheel towing and it shows for a 250 6.4L TD that it can tow up to 15,300. The fifth wheel I am getting is a Gateway, GVWR 14.000. Now with that info, what should I do.
