Trying to go thru their website I found difficultRe: Jeep Grand Cherokee W/Towing Package IVI have the same Jeep as you, and while I tow my '16 Flagstaff with it a lot, I would never consider a TT as heavy or as long as you are looking at. I come in at just over 5,000# loaded for boondocking, and am only 21 1/2' long. Lighter weight if I am sure I'll be in a campground over night. You only have 114" wheelbase, tow capacity of 6200# with the V6. The V8 gives you 7200# towing, but is still too short. Look for a smaller trailer or a truck to pull the bigger one with.Re: 2021 Grand Cherokee?I've towed my 21 1/2 ft (total length) Flagstaff 21FBRS with my '16 JGC for about 25,000 miles over the last 5 years. It has the V6, so is rated to tow 6200#. My trailer is just over 5,000# loaded, and it is only me and the DW in the Jeep, and very little more cargo inside. So we hit the scales at 10,200# I live in AZ, and tow all over the west. Mountains and canyons are not a problem. and wind is very little problem. My Equal-I-Zer is set up very well, so when the wind is bad, like always in New Mexico, I just slow down. I've had no reliability issues with the Jeep. Also, I think the another poster is mistaken is saying the 2021 JGC is on the Alfa base. That is the 3 row that they call the WL and is a 2022. It is starting to be shipped. But the 2021 is a 2 row, known as the WK2, and is still on the Mercedes platform as it has been since 2013.Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6L V6 2014If you don't have a hitch already it means you don't have a tow package, so your towing capacity is 3500#.Re: Who's towing with the new Ranger? How is it going?I don't tow with one yet, but check out https://www.ranger5g.com/ Lots of info and experience about towing and many other things. It's a happy Ranger site, so very little negative.Re: Most American made truck colliehauler wrote: For 2020 I seen a article that stated the new Ford Ranger was the highest American content according to Forbes. Correct. The article sited is a year old.Re: Towing a 4500lb TT with an SUVI tow my Flagstaff 21 FBRS with my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6. I got both is 2016, and have logged about 18,000 miles with them latched up. The tow rating on the Jeep is 6200#, and the Carrying Capacity is low at 1050#. Between a tongue at 550 and two people at 350, and almost nothing else in the Jeep we are OK. The TT is at 5100# loaded for boondocking. I tow all over the west, so mountains and wind are always with me. I average just a little over 12mpg, and I like to drive it at 62MPH. I have little trouble with wind and trailer sway. I just slow down. I good hitch properly set up is the key. I have the Equal-I-Zer 4 point, which is a really good hitch.Re: Flagstaff Micro-lite/ Rockwood Mini-lite experiencesMy 2016 Flagstaff FBRS had to have the fresh water tank replaced when a seam went out. The under tank supports were built of really thin angle iron also. Needless to say it was out of warranty. A local independent shop in Tucson got a new tank and built a much more rugged support system. Still, I don't like the water tank hanging under the belly.Re: Rockwood 2109SI've had a Flagstaff 21FBRS (same TT, different name} for 2 1/2 years now. My DW and I really like the design and features. I'm a big guy (6'4" and 210) yet I find the bath and shower easy to use. We really like the counter space for cooking. The BBQ grill is a very nice design. Once we put a topper on the bed, it became very comfortable. Not all is perfect, though. I don't like the quality of materials used in the cabinetry. Construction grade plywood instead of furniture grade or solid wood. Trim put up poorly that I had to take down and re-install. And the big table is a joke. We use a small table and trays for eating inside. The one big problem I had was the water tank breaking at a seam. Looking at the water tank supports after the tank broke I could see there was no way that support was OK for 350lbs of water. A good repair shop here in Tucson got me a tank and built a good support. Mine is a '16 model and comes in at 3910 dry (according to the stickers) The newest models are at over 4300 dry, and they didn't change much of anything in the design. So maybe a heavier frame or axles where added. It tows nicely up and down the mountains of the west behind my Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V6, although the added weight of the new ones would have made be get a V8.Re: Rockwood/Flagstaff - travel with full fresh water tank? Lynnmor wrote: mm047 wrote: After reading this whole thread, I crawled under my 2016 Flagstaff 21FBRS to see how the water tank is installed. I have a 43 gal tank that is sitting on two pieces of 1 1/2" angle iron that is welded to the frame rails. There are two cross member pieces of the same angle iron that look to be at 1/3 and 2/3 of the width tank. The tank, when full, weighs in at 356 lbs. Are you satisfied with this arrangement? Does the tank bulge down between the supports when full? I had similar angles that went across between main frame I-beams and cracks developed where they were welded due to the entire frame flexing. Those small angle irons took a load from that flexing that they were not meant to handle. For now I'm seeing no bending of the metal. The tank is flexing down a little as it sits now at about 2/3 full. I can see, though, that the welds could be a weak point. I'm going to monitor the setup during my trip next week, and look into strenghtening it. Much better to spend a few bucks and a few hours now.
